    Omni-Mounts

Thanks, Mikekid, minn_male42 Last question - Would anyone know where the least intrusive location to drill on the RB5's? Either top or rear. The bottom is not an option due to wiring. Again, Many thanks tbird
  2. Hi All, Question - I have only one more move to make to have all my speakers mounted. I'm wondering if anyone can give me feedback on the Omni-Mounts. In particular I need to mount the following, and the associated Omni-Mounts: Klipsch RB-5 - OmniMount - 75WB OR 75WA Klipsch RC-3 - OmniMount - 100WB / CB I'd like to hear from anyone who has used these and how they have held up. They recommend the above OmniMounts specifically for the mentioned Klipsch speakers. Can anyone back up their sturdiness ? Is there rattle, shaking or the like when proporly mounted. Where is the least intrusive place to drill mount into speakers. I assume this is part of the process. Will this be a performance issue ? Many thanks Tbird
  3. Hi Doug, I'm getting "5 channel Stereo" out of all speakers, but only center channel from any other mode. I've gone into setup and added Speaker Config a few days ago. That's when I got the rears to kick in. But why only in 5 channel? No doubt I'm overlooking a standard/simple function, but I'm not sure what it is ?
  4. All, Thanks for the responses. For better or worse it's Monster Cable 12 gauge for the Sub. Once I decide on the sub I'll use the mentioned RCA adaptors. All fit quite well behind the Crown Moulding. I suggest this for anyone on a cement slab and no ceiling crawl space. These guys were good. They first tacked(plastic U-cups) the wires (3 sets of MC 12 gauge, including the wires for the RS-S'S's) to the corners where the ceiling and wall meet. Once the Crown was cut and put in place the nails went into the wall, below the corners, and in the ceiling above the corners. I had to go out and buy wider Crown (4 5/8th) I believe but it looks great. Now I have to work on getting this Denon 3300 down to science !!!! Thanks again for all the help. You have no idea how much t helps. tbird
  5. Hi All, FINALLY, I just locked, loaded and mounted my RS-3's. Damn they look good !! To keep the wife somewhat happy, she's free to put as many freakin Beeney Babies as she wants to on top of 'em !! Down to business: I'm stuck in "5 Channel Stereo." I did this about 6 months ago when I only had the RC-3 and RB-5's. Now (with the RS-3's) it's time to get buzy! The sound in tight enough but I'm not getting any directional rotation (rears) from this mode. When I toss 'er into "Direct, Dobly/DTS, DDSC, DTS, I only get the Center Channel ???" NO MAS ! Whatever I do I can't get any sound other than the center. By dawn tomorrow this manual maybe in the bottom of the cat box !! Is there something I'm missing in the System Setup? I've been through it a dozen times. Denon makes a superb product but they should really have their own site for forum/discussion. I truly have a very long way to go!! RS-3 RC-3 RB-5 DENON-3300 (Manual instructions headache included) Many Thanks tbird
  6. Hi gang, Thanks for all the help. My choices are down to one since wire installation in tomorrow. Please tell me if this is a "bad play" but I'm probably going to go with the MonsterBass 400 Subwoofer Interconnect. It's will total about about $160. I'll have to connect two together but I don't think i'll be losing too much. I'm a rookie but I really want to make the right move. I don't know if this MonsterBass 400 Subwoofer Interconnect is Coax, better, or worse than Coax but Good Guys, Circuit City don't seem to know what Coax does for subs. They tell me that's what this MonsterBass 400 is. If anyone is kind enough to answer ANY question please address the following: 1 - Does 12 gauge have the shielding and current to handle a sub. (It will have RCA'S on the ends) 2 - Are two 8M MonsterBass 400 Subwoofer Interconnects better or worse than #1. Many thanks tbird
  7. Hi All, While I'm at it, I'm concered the the Klipsch do rate very high except for the sub ?? Why is that. The reviews state the Reference series is excellent, but the Sub does not seem to rate in the same category. 12's 15's I plan on making this purchase in the next month or 2. Not to knock Klipsch but I'd like the best for what I can spend. I've relegaed myself to the fact that I'm looking at about $1k. Seriously, what one of the best in that price range ?? I hear Velodyne is excellent. Again, any and all input appreciated !!!!
  8. First and foremost, Thanks for the responses. The 40ft does not represent the RADIUS from the TV/RECEIVER. It represents the route that it needs to take to place it in a rear corner. The Sub will only be about 12 feet from the TV/RECEIVER. I have HW floors, on a slab, no crawl space, and the ceiling is not an option due to support beams. I have to go 40 ft(routed through Crown moulding) which unfortunately is not a direct path. Not to be a complete "rookie" but is Monster cable with the RCA end adaptor considered "COAX" ?? I was told that COAX is solid state wiring and not to be used for subs. Since I have only to Friday to make this final call (Crown Moulding 10:am Sat morning),will Monster Cable with RCA adaptors work for a Klipsch 12 or 15 work, or is this Good Guy saleman jerking me ?? I'll buy the Coax if it's a good play. Commence laughter !!!
  9. Hi, Thanks for the response. As mentioned by JTS8, I can use the adapters on the 12 gauge Monster cable. My concern is in doing this am I sacrificing sound quality, fidelity, clarity Vs. using RCA cables apparently made specifically for subwoofers. I was told I would need these to maximize the subs performance. Is 12 gauge enough "thickness" to carry a sub (Klipsch 12 or 15) current?? If so I all set as I had 12 gauge run under the hardwood molding. However on the flip side, I don't mind buying several RCA's if in fact the sound will have a noticeable improvement. I'd like to do it right the first time Vs. wondering......WHAT IF..... Again, many thanks for any and all input.
  10. Hi all, Connection question. I'm having my RS-3's installed shortly. This is my only chance to run the YET TO BUY subwoofer wiring. It will probably be a Klipsch 12 or 15's. The distance will be about 40ft. I was told that 12 gauge Monster cable will not give me full benefits of Subwoofer sound. What's the best wiring that I should use. I only have one chance to get it right since the wiring will be secured behind the installed Crown molding. I'd be pretty depressed (and in the wife's personal doghouse fully equiped with bread and water) if I have to rip down the Crown molding because of speaker clarity !!!! ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!!! RB-5 RS-3 RC-3 Klipsch Sub-TBD

    DENON 3300

Big Thanks to Tom Adams for a little one-on-one Cross Country (Georgia to Cali) 3300 Training !!!! I had gone out and bought the RC-3, hooked it up quite unsuccessfully. With Tom on the phone, a few adjustments and "VIOLA". It really makes a difference to know us Newbie's are not alone to endure some of the equipment technology that can be soooooooooo frustrating. THANKS AGAIN TO TOM AND ALL THE REST WHO HELP US.

    DENON 3300

Ok, I just auditioned the Reference package. The RB-5's, RC-3's and RS-3's with an Infinity subwoofer. Salesperson said the Klipsch K-12's are not reliable due to fuses or something (feedback welcome). I tell you all it was very impressive. As I write this I'm freezing my American Express in block of ice !!!! Question - What do I gain by Gold Plated rca cables. This will run from the tv audio to the denon EXT IN, FL and FR speaks ? WARNING - I'm going to start delving (basically pressing buttons)into some of the functionality / options of the 3300. Keeping in mind that I have a wife and accessible power tools, I'm really trying to get a grip on the basics when time permits. I truly want to thank everyone who has responded. tbird

    DENON 3300

Ok Gents, Don't worry, I was told by another patient that if you asked for the manual a 3rd time you'll be is a Straight Jacket you can say "105 watts per channel". The last item I figured out on my own. YES, YES, I indeed had the rca cables from the TV to 3300 but since the I had the setup for the 2 fronts (by the way, there is no 2 channel output from what I could see in Setup) I needed to adjust the rca's to the front vs. surrounds to which I had them plugged in to. Why the am tuner played in that mode I'll leave to one who told Noah the specific dimensions of the Ark. But my issue may go on for the same 40 days and 40 nights !!! Bloomis914, you didn't solve it but you put me on the right path with the jacks. thx Ok, I don't want to set a new "Thread record" Should I start a new one ?? We'll call it "From 2nd base to home plate" I'll be back !!!!!!!!!!!!!! tbird1
