I recently picked up a pair of KG 4s that were advertised on CL for $150. The cabs are good. One passive has the center dust cover (or whatever it is) dented in. I plan on using them in my boat barn/shop to replace an old Magnavox console the I listen to the oldies station on. Hooked the speakers up to a Integra DTR 7 and all is well, except, I have read so much about how KG 4s sound so much better with tubes. So.... I have a H H Scott LK 72 that my dad and I built when I was in high school. It hasn't been bowered up in over 10 years so I'm afraid to plug it in. The last person to touch it was a TV repair man who replace a cap but with a smaller diameter one. I would like to get the Scott up and running but the only local audio shop doens't know what a variac is. I live on the Oregon Coast. Suggestions?
