  1. what should i expect.. i never heard the Chorus' or the La Scala for that matter,,but suddenly these older Chorus's are intriguing me..
  2. i always the thought they shared the same horn, but they are listed as different part numbers here on this site ?? anyone know for sure..
  3. so the 4.2's had the exact same crossovers as the 5.5's ; just for anyones interest. so the ole 5.5's are doing there thing again !! sounds great. next is the titanium diaphram upgrade...
  4. why do i see so many for sale ?? they are everywhere ? and alot are only used a couple months... jus wondering
  5. well i ended up finding some KG 4.2 x's before 5.5's on the bay for 15 bucks..so i'm gonna give them a try.. i doubt the two crossovrs differ that much..but will let ya's know when my 5.5.'s are back together ! !
  6. such a stupid question, but have been looking at getting some la scala's..i want to experience what they call 'eery' ... but help me out with the bass section..whats goin on there, and where the h3ll is the woofer....any one have a schematic or cross section diagram ? dont really understand horn loaded woofers i guess. also many have said the la Scala's lack bass..but wouldnt a quality sub take care of that ? like a servo 15. and one more, wouldnt they make a great satellite system (in a smaller box with jus the top half,) and let a sub take care of the lows...
  7. just wondering... i found a pair with the veneer shot..and could refinish them if they were wood veneer thx
  8. just a quick question as to how similar , if not the same, the crossover's would be on these speakers. I am looking for parts for my DOA 5.5's and could use the woofers and the crossovers from a cheap pair of 4.2's i found.... if they will work ?? thx for any help.
  9. i know where you're coming from, but i could get the klipsch 10" stock woofers for about $150 x 2 (seems like alot) but i cant help but think that since they are about 20 yr old technology...wouldnt a newer $100 high performance 10 incher be an upgrade ? even a 10" woofer that could be used in a subwoofer would handle my amplifiers... ???
  10. this may be sacrelig around here...but what about a replacement from an online supplier?? anyone tried a generic brand ? say like these ? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=297-430
  11. my bad...$225 for new Xovers (pair) from Bob !! my supplier in canada (KIipsch service sent me to the canadian distributor) wanted $135 for a replacemetn woofer (k-1023) i think i need two.. so 225 + 270 is $5 hundo, not including shipping...hmmm the saga continues..
  12. thx for the comments all...for sh!ts and giiglles i'll have to check out the cornwall III's ..
  13. thats what i'm leaning toward !! thx for the comments
  14. well i really need to find out what in the current line up would compare with the 5.5s..and find out how much they would be here in canada (which always is almost dble compared with the U.S.) i just looked at the site, and thought the new X-overs were $225 each !! i'll have to dble check tho. like buy a newer pair ??
  15. cross referencing my other post..where the kg's have bit the dust... ttp://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/133024/1350414.aspx#1350414 what do y'all think can compete with the 5.5's from the current line up..and what kind of money are we talking !! will i have to step up to the '83's ?? thx for any comments
  16. i hear ya, but its the cost of replacing them with new ones that will kill me. the rf 83's would be alot of coin around here , not to mention the rf -7's !! hmmmmmm, RF-7s.... i'll contact klipsch to see if they still stock them..who knows ? or check that site that was posted thanks for comments guys btw, anyone see a X-over drop a 'whatever that is' to the bottom of the speaker ?!
  17. thanks for the input...i'll have to search the gentleman you mentioned.. i think the titanium diaphrams are for the k-horns,, but i dunno. i'll keep researching ! regardless, need two (atleast) woofers for the 5.5's and hopefully find decent replacements ! chow !
  18. any one? these are the silly kids that blew the woofers to bits..
  19. i searched around on here and keep reading about a titanium diaphragm upgrade...I am all ears?? if i decided to go new, what in the current line up would be a similar replacement ? feeling out my options.. !!
  20. hey all, 1st post, and looking for help from knowledgeable klipsch people ! i've had a pr of KG5.5's since new, and recently they endured a barn party, where i think they were tested to their potential. woofers are out and they've come apart... also i noticed a small white thingy on the inside floor of speaker which obviously came off the xover.. what would you do ? replace all 4 woofers (i was thinking Rf 7 or something) and both X overs ? can u still get these original woofers..or what would be a great replacement ?? thanks for any input. on a positive note, these speakers have been a gem, and the core of my home theatre system for (what seems to be) eons.. i'm also thinking of getting a pair of 'commercial DJ' type speakers for these type of events and leave the 5.5's at home !!!
