  1. Thank you all for the responses so far. Lots of information to digest and lots of questions to answer. I have a large (18 x 30 x 10) listening room, however, I do not have ideal corners. Due to a series of setbacks in my room, I only have one set of symmetrical corners for the Khorns. The corners are essentially one of the setbacks and are 3 ft x 18 ft. There is no wall between the speakers as there is another 12 feet of depth to the room behind the speakers. While this allows for some staggering imaging, it definitely does not allow for optimal bass loading. Also, my room is in the basement, has concrete floors, cinder block walls, studs and 2 x 5/8" sheetrock walls/ceilings. It's is very lively with alot of hard surfaces. I have not had the chance to treat the room (we just moved back in after a lengthy renovation 7 weeks ago). I am using a Puresound 30 watt Class A tube integrated amp. I listen to all kinds of music and will listen at louder levels if its appropriate for the type of music I'm listening to. I really like the presence and the speed of the Khorns, and as I said, I get incredible imaging in my room. I probably don't have the speakers sealed as well as I should, which would probably improve the bass performance. Nevertheless, the upper frequencies literally make my ears hurt after listening for a while. Thanks again.
  2. Hello Everyone. I recently purchased a pair of stock 80s Klipschorns as an experiment to see if they would work in my room as well as to determine if I like horns. I discovered that I like alot of things the Khorns do in my room, but I find that the upper frequencies can be piercing and fatiguing on alot of material. My questions is whether any of the modifications (i.e., crossovers, trachorns/V-Trac and drivers) alleviate and improve upon this problem, or is this the inherent nature of the speaker? Thanks.
