  1. yes i listenned the upperside, thinking the sound will be better as the sound goes up, but lately, after 25 years of hifi, i was amaze from the sound of a 40$ atechnica... So maybe i was listenning the wrong way, maybe a needle isn't what make the difference and maybe there's to much snakeoil in expensive cart's so maybe a 100$ cart is all you need! no offence but i am with cart's at the same conclusion after trying so many cable, it is only snake oil i purchased on 1000$ cartridge. and maybe other's have arrived at the same result, so i am asking please share you're experience with budget cart's Does it really make a difference, and if yes what kind? Or bestdeal in town is? enjoy!

  13. Good evening, recently, i purchase a few vintage amp, and now i can't decided witch one to keep? they all soundmdifferent, but perform great! my list for now integrated: Sugden a48III; Carver 1900; miniwatt tbe el84 Receiver: Harman Kardon twin power 430; Altec 711A; Panasonic fm16 (16ohms) Each one got a phono included, so for now no need for my Juicy! What do you do with your amp, keep only one? and sell the rest? or keep everything, it doesnn't worth much around 100-200$ per amp, and switch amp as you wish to change the sound? i can't decided my self to sell those for nothing? and you how many amp and keeper or changer? Regards Tpjrs

  16. You know, that is all that matters! I'm glad you're liking your system with the added protection. Dennie Thanks Dennie, and also there's lots of lightnings storms since the beginning of summer! so with lightning when you're hear them it is already to late.... With vintage, better safe than sorry! and well the sound improved and clear the RFI away! it was a cheap solution for great improvement! Enjoy
  17. One week, since i put the ups, and it sound better than ever! won't go back, maybe it is the RFI that are missing, anyhow, it's sound grrrrreat!
  18. But not all is bad at apple, customer care for itune as always are very helpful and found solution quickly! Still old mac vs new mac mini, quite difference!
  19. Well CPU is working so hard on video, to the new make your screen look like an ipad version, that... Well i am using a french version and this morning a could see my computer putting page in english on icon and the put a second layer to make it loook like french version, looosy programming very looosy programming this lion stuff!
  20. Some answers, i found on the web http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/PolarizedOutlet.svg On a old power cord, if you want to change the end plug: "To identify the neutral/ground or the hot side: The hot side is the unmarked wire. The National Electrical Code requires the neutral wire be identified. Typically, you will find writing or ribs on the neutral wire." All those powercords, correctly align, must had hep to!
  21. http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems/other-ups/CP550SL.html?selectedTabId=specifications&imageI=#tab-box Yup noise filtering of course is in there!¸ my version is the cyberpower cp550SL-SR, it is a single wall outlet, you could only attach to it one power cord, but rest of the spec seems similar! anyway for 40$ does a good job and since old amp and storm hit montreal yesterday, was a good thing to have!
  22. Well, first condition, is my amp is old, and since i noticed voltage fluctuation, i bought the computer UPS. I would agree with those 3: "The device has less current capacity compared to directly using the wall outlet and this creates some kind of pleasant distortion. Some noise source in the wall circuit is being filtered out. Something related to isolation of the ground. " Since it is vintage, i search web to identify neutral/ground on my cord of all appliance, and plug them correctly grounded, this might help to Also the the heat from the transfo decrease(this was the main reason for having the UPS's), since voltage fluctuation decreases with it. And yes, there's must be some psycho acoustic (snake oil) that help in the process! []
