  1. After weeks of looking at reviews and hearing feedback to my previous post I have finally made a choice. Does anyone here have the TX-sr608? Any feed back would be great. I have to play the waiting game for the next few days until it arrives atmy house. I can't wait.[] The anticipation is killing me. Besides the analog 2nd zone and the lack of pre-outs for an amp I think this is a great HT receiver at a great price. Any Thoughts???
  2. I have a chance to buy this receiver for $400- The guys says he bought it for his brother online and never opened it- ??? Anyhow he says he will demo it for me to make sure that it works. I am worried that Onkyo will not honor the warranty!! I have read a few reviews. Some are really good, others say they have had major problems ( blowing up, lasting only a week or two) I want to get everyones advice!! Let me know what you think.
  3. I had written a previous post that went dead, so I think I will start a new one!!! I am looking to replace my Yamaha receiver with a newer one. I am looking at the Onkyo TX-SR706. Anyone have experiance with this receiver? Is Accessories4less a trustworthy seller? They have a referb for about $400, Is this worth buying? The power is equal to my Yamaha ( 100w/ ch.) but the other features sound much better. Any thoughts????? Thanks
  4. Thanks for all the great advice. I am once again redminded why I come to this site daily. I know the Pioneer was a dumb choice I have never used one in my home theater setup. It just siunded like it had all the features I was looking for. After hearing your responses I will wait and find a good deal on a higher end receiver. Any thoughts on Denon? I have heard good things. Why do they rate everything @ 6ohms? Is the Onkyo line my best choice?
  5. Currently my budget is about $500. After spending $1200 on speakers things are kind of tight. I don't think I will ever be adding an amp. I think that 110-135 per channel is sufficient. I have been happy with my Yamaha but I think it is outdated. The setup and remote are complicting. Too many sound field options. I would like something easier to operate, automatic set-up, compatible with blue-ray. I just want to make sure I am getting the best possible sound to my speakers. The best buy near me often has open box or clerence receivers. I only need 5.1 since my RS speakers have such a wide dispersment of sound. I have been looking at the new Pioneer http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+-+550W+5.1-Ch.+3D+Pass+Through+A/V+Home+Theater+Receiver/9846526.p?id=1218199620702&skuId=9846526 Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for the info.
  6. Please take a look at my signature to see my current set-up. I have had my Yamaha receiver for a few years now. Since I have recently upgraded to reference series speakers I am wondering if it is time to upgrade my receiver as well? I am looking at the Denon not sure of the model it pushes 125w per channel @ 6ohms ( What does that equal out to for 8ohms???) Why do they list it at 6 instead of 8? Any sugestions on what I should get??? Is anyone looking to upgrade and want to sell me one. [] The biggest reason is to update to HDMI. I'm running blue-ray and ps-3, just seems like the right choice. Thanks in advance for all your input!!!!
  7. I really like my new 62's. I think they might be a little overpowering for the space I have but they sound great in 6 channel stereo. I need to adjust the output so I can balance them with my front speakers. Great speakers probably better for a larger room. You shuold give them a try I don't think there is anything out there right now that is as good for the price.
  8. Thanks for your posts. I guess I am one of those people who over pay for stuff!! I always thought you should go with a higer end wire. Is this not the case? All the suggestions that were made are for regular speaker wire that can be purchased at a hardware store. Does the higher priced speaker wire sold at audio stores not make a difference in sound quality? I want to buy something that has great sound reproduction. Can I get this with a basic 12ga. wire? Please advise!!
  9. Currently I am using Monster XP wire which I belive is 16 ga. The longest run I have is 25 ft. to my surround speakers. I am thinking about moving up to AudioQuest X2 which is 14ga. Is this worth the investment. You can see my current setup in my signature area. I guess I need to update that. I just purchased RS-62's for surround sound. Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom.[]
  10. Well once again being impatient I went for the 62's. I did not want to worry about having to upgrade again. These speakers are huge!!! They do sound amazing and I got a good deal from what I have seen. I know I could have gotten a better deal if I would have waited but I am happy with the end result. I guess I was hoping everyone was going to tell me to go for the 62's. I was kind of surprised on the advice to buy the 42's. From what I have read on this site and many others the 62's are vastly superior. Any thoughts????
  11. I have an opportunity to buy localya pair of RS-62's tomorrow for $600-. ( He says they are new in the box??) I have done some homework on the new RS series and they are the best of the three by far. I could get the 42's for around $400 and the 52's for $500+. Myquestion is.... Will the 62's be too much for my current setup? My current system is listed in my sgnature section! I am running 100watts per channel ( so the specs say) My HT room is only 12X12 of deticated space. My couch is set against the back wall so I only run 5.1 and I plan to mount the surrounds on the side walls at ear level in line with my listening postion. Should I buy the RS-62's? I think it is a pretty good deal.... only $100 more per speaker than the 42's. Please help... I need to make the deal by tomorrow before he sells. Thank you for your advice. Oh and I forgot to mention " THIS SITE ROCKS"
  12. I have been looking for some time now to buy some Reference series surround speakers. I just found someone that is selling a pair of RS-3's in my area. I want to get adivce from anyone who has experiance with these speakers. The good.. the bad.... Let me know what you have to say. Thanks!!!!
