  1. considering the fact where i came from,

logitech is just another common product brand.

even if it is THX certified, it is not going to sell well enough.

talking about klipsch is even worse. promedia is nearly non-existance here in malaysia.

anyway, considering the amount of money i am going to pay for a logitech, i will still go for the promedia.

i have read the initial review on the z-560 in 3dsoundsurge. it is impressive alright. but it doesn't say anything that it will blow the promedia away. performance (sound quality in certain fields) is very very close to the promedia or on par or even slightly better. but it still comes down to the buyer. do you want to spend USD 199 on logitech or USD 299 on promedia???? or wait for creative megawork 510D estimated to a USD500?

of course looking down at the price, logitech is a good buy.

but i see no specs on thos speakers yet and i am waiting for someone to review the set , open up the mdf woofer cabinet, and see what's inside.

    .

i have open up my promedia 4.1 to look at inside. .. nice layout and good enough components and i have found the source of all the heat

perhaps its time for some more thermal paste.

  2. hmm. this is a very volatile topic to talk about

anyway.. first of all, it depends on a person's budget, then his taste and preferences, then what type of system he has .. and his environment..

hmm. mission, i guessed that is a hifi brand speakers.

should be a UK brand and bought over by DENON. saw the mission speakers in the website of DENON.

but speakers are very subjective to a person's preferences... for example, u might not like the sound of mission speakers, i might like it..

and of course, the system involved also plays a major parts of giving the sound a characteristic of its own

martin logan is very very expensive at its high end model, not mistaken at US 85000 a pair of its electrostatics speakers. i have not heard the sound but its has a class of its own.. it is not for us to say whether it is good or not....

but one thing for certain, the quality will be there.

    hmm. btrigg,

are u refering to an article based on Wilson Audio Watts & puppy speakers??? expensive speakers too... but very nicely done... as i said before, this high end speakers makers produced speakers that have class own their own.. so the same pair speakers might sound different on a different system.

  3. Hey REM...

i agreed with doomsday.. i understand how u feel about the promedia malfunction when u run it.........BUT...

about the malaysian thing, i was just trying to tell u that warranty issues will take some time to solve or to be clear...

i am just trying to tell u to stay cool despite the frustration and dissapointment.. just send it for warranty then u will find out the truth.... in this way, u will get a new promedia

and please.. think properly before u put out a reply.

REM, some of your statements are really irrelevant to the topic we are discussing ...

    read properly before reply

  4. i think u better write to the amy platt from promedia tech.

anyway.. mine don't have the random noises .. my headphone jack works just fine...

and do u mine to describe your problems?? what type of random noises???

and when u plug in your headphone jack, make sure u mute your speakers..

u have to mute your speakers. or else, u will think that the headphone doesn't work. cos promedia doesn't act like a midi hifi where once u plug in your headphone, it will automatically mute the whole system ..

  5. not mistaken, the satellites for quintex are made of wood or something like that, while the promedia's satellites are from plastic (if that's what klispch called them) anyway, quintext comes with ksw-10 sub with mosfet .

i think definitely it will sounds better...

  6. if u want to get a better HT system, there are better ones than quintex..

in hometheater... , quintex is only average.... even the review say so... there are other brands better than that....

at the end,,, the question will come back to " how much money are u willing to spend on your system"

buying promedia 4.1 does solve your problems but not really neccessary to purchase promedia 5.1

and it also based on what u really want.

.. but u cannot compare the promedia to actual HT system out there from different manufacturers....

  7. i agreed.. that's why i jumped on paradigm.. u cannot compare to a different class .. HT paradigm compare to a promedia 4.1. cost and different class

... if a person use the HT system for pc.. he/she needs a receiver again...... and definitely it will be much better than promedia..... and the cost..

so i am happy to have the promedia.. cos i don't think i can justify the cost of my speakers to be too expensive... when compare to my entire computer system.

i have no problem hooking up a amp with my computer. i have a sony va80es receiver... surrounds speakers.. but all those cables and the space....

    anyway.. i LOVE promedia 4.1

  8. i praised Amy because she gives me quite a fast reply and i am happy. PERIOD.

i don't think u can aspect all this replacement issue to be settle in a week or so..

try IBM harddisk in malaysia..... 2 months at least..for replacement. and we have master distributor again in malaysia...... just cool man

and Don't simply ask us to go and search for girlfriend..... why u want to put an irrelevant subject here just because u r dissapointed??

i am just trying to help here....

  9. not mistaken, your ati radeon should have a software dvd player from ati themselves.

and again.. ati radeon has its own hardware decoding.

can someone corrects me if i am wrong?

but windvd / powerdvd should be able to decode the dvd via your ati radeon decoding chip. afterall, the signal will have to go thru the radeon itself... i am not a engineer or something.. but i am trying to explain in a logical way...

so in the end, the signal should be decoded by the ati hardware decoder and the software should not be having any problem projecting it in the monitor.

and it is like a geforce 2 card, it has something built inside to help decoding dvd playback but it is not hardware.

and ati cards have good dvd playback quality

go to www.3dsoundsurge.com to read the review on phillips acoustic edge card.

  10. hi ..

    let just assume this way...

a person who wants a system that solve all his headaches.... just hook it up, and it served all his purpose...... as a HT system, audio system... and convenient.. no huge speakers.. and bose provide just that...

and the satellites are so small that u can stuff it at one corner and forget about it... ..aand it has enough quality to satisfy customers ...

of course u cannot compare Bose to other powerful higher end models from other manufacturers.

that's why Bose has its own customers and supporters.

nothing sucks.... if it sucks, it will not last this long.. more than 50 years of history in making speakers .

    Cool.gif

  11. hmm. try it out first and go thru all the neccessary steps to check your set before sending it to klipsch..

or else it will be a waste of time and troublesome if later u find out that the problem could be solve by yourself.

    hehehe

  12. perhaps.. ever thinking of changing the miniplugs?? without going to klipsch..?

i meant.. u can ask some shop to custom make new speakers cable with longer length and higher quality miniplugs ..

in this way.. u upgrade your speaker cables quality and fix the scratchy sound.. and u can move the satellites further away from each other...

But, if the scratchy sound is from the socket of the miniplug on satellite or the satellite itself, than u have no choice but to send it back to klipsch..

    or

u can try to swap the satellites to make sure that it is not the satellites problem but the plug itself....

but if all the satellites have this scratchy sound...

maybe u didn't plug it in properly?.. try to check on it some more. i don't have any problem with mine. i moved them around too.

so.. just make sure the satellites and the sub are working fine and pinpoint the problem.. so that u will know what to do next........

  13. windvd is more solid.. provide u with better picture and clarity on the subtitle part.. but need more horsepower on your pc part

but powerdvd needs lesser cpu power but clarity might notbe as good as windvd.

but as software dvd playback is concerned, nothing is perfect.
