According to THX specifications, the front satellite speakers should be placed 22 inches from each other and must flank the monitor, due to the screens possible effect on the sound.

Does anyone know if it really matters much between a 4.1 and a 5.1 system if the 4.1 system can create a "Phantom" center. I know that this "Phantom" center will only be for the person sitting in the 'sweet spot' but wouldnt that also be true for true 5.1? I'm currently in the process of deciding between Klipsch's 4.1 or a true 5.1 system.
