  1. Thx guys. In hindsight, I'll admit to premature posting. Of course it's about learning and while I appreciate the opinions, I should give a listen and learn. For that matter, plenty of listens! Our ears are not the same and we all know what opinions are like! Enjoy the music guys! That's what it's about!
  2. Say friends, have an opportunity to pick up some Cornwall verticals with recently recapped crossovers and titanium diaphragms for $900. Cabinet condition is VG-EX. I have mint Forte I's now with the same. Pushing them with a McIntosh MA 6200. Are the Corns an upgrade worth the trip? I need to drive a ways to audition them. Input appreciated! Best wishes!
  3. Thx for the honest opinions folks. I sincerely appreciate it! So if I'm leaning away from the MA6100, any recos on what to get if I'm looking to invest $500 to $700? This is for an occassional listening room (about 20'x20'), still looking for the best jazz I can get out of the super-efficient Forte's. Thx again!
  4. Thx Gambo! In your humble opinion, is it worth $700 - $800 to make the change? Just want to validate that the investment will matter.
  5. Hey team. I was fortunate to pick up a pair of mint Forte's about 4 months ago. OMG, the upgrade vs. my Heresy's is incredible! But now, I'm wondering if it's worth the trip to buy a MA6100 to replace my Denon. Will the McIntosh make a material sound difference or will my old ears even notice the change. BTW, Bob Crites reworked the crossovers and that made a significant difference in the top end. But now, I need an honest opinion on the MA6100. I'm primarily listening to jazz on CDs. Thx!
  6. Thx for the ideas folks. The hunt begins! Best wishes!
  7. Hey friends! About to pick up some mint WO Forte's I bought off Craig's list in Atlanta. I'm making the move up from some $150 black laminate covered garage sale Heresy's with Bob Crite's x-over and CT-125 tweeter. Been very happy...but now looking for more! $400 for the Forte's seemed fair, not a steal, but worth it to me. First stop is again Bob's place, for a x-over rebuild and some titanium. Now here's where I could use an assist. I've heard, over and over, that a tube amp will make the Forte's sing. So I'm looking for a reco friends. What to get, where, and what I need to invest. I know more about quantum physics (not really) than amps. Just love the music! I've got a decent jazz collection I'll be running through CDs. All, well most all advice is appreciated!
  8. You guys are awesome! I already feel like family! Best wishes and good listening to all!
  9. Thx team! You've all reinforced my gut instinct. Best wishes!
  10. Thx Sandy! What in the world do I get for $50? Can't drive from Atlanta to B'ham for that!
  11. Sorry! Got that from you guys too! Using a nice sub with the Heresies. Significant improvement!
  12. OK guys, be gentle! First time caller, and frankly, know more about neurosurgery! I'm re-engaging my love of good music, albeit 25 years later! On a fluke, I snagged some pristine, custom cabinet Heresy 1.5's at a garage sale for $150. Bob Crites upgraded the crossovers and I'm relatively happy...but the bug has bit! Driving them with a Denon 80wpc receiver. Also have an old Yamaha and SAE Two integrated amp sitting in boxes. Where do I go now? Have a lead on some beautiful Chorus II for $600...or do I go the other route and get into an amp that'll clean up the signal a bit? I've read McIntosh will make Klipsch sing! I've also read enough of your "help" to know someone will suggest getting them both! But I would appreciate a more practical perspective (though that does sound good to me). 80% of my listening is Jazz through digital sources in a moderate sized (15'x25') room. Thanks guys! Best wishes!
