  1. How the heck do those RadioShack stands attach to the KLips??? It looks a little odd on the top.
  2. What frequency is the 4.1 sub box tuned to and what will be the sub box tuning for the new 5.1 subwoofer?
  3. Yes, but why in the world do so many high performance, high end PC manufactures sell the Soundblaster Live Platnium 5.1s w/ Klipsch 4.1s! Why do this? Can't I just stick w/ an EAX supported card and have WinDVD downmix to 4 speaker setup? I know there are a few 4.1 speakers out there that are labeled 5.1s like the Altec Lancing ADA-890s But, they have some kind of built in phantom center. What gives! I am a little confused on this! So, lets try another related issue! What if I buy a set of Klipsch 5.1s but only have the soundblaster Live Value w/ no 5.1 Dolby digital Decoding. To get the full effect of a DVD's sound can I keep this card and get an external decoder? Or, have to buy a 5.1 supported card? But, please focus on the first issue. Thanks, This message has been edited by bradestes on 06-14-2001 at 10:09 AM
  4. I have a soundblaster Live Value that supports EAX 3D sound has good sound frame rates and low CPU use. But, what would a 5.1 digital decoding card do for me and a set of Klisch 4.1s? What advantage does this have? Example; If I go into WinDVD and I have a 5.1 supported soundcard w/ anolog 4.1 speakers do/can I select the 5.1 speaker option or stay with the 4 speaker setting? If staying with 4 speaker WinDVD setting will there be any differance w/ 5.1 decoding card? This message has been edited by bradestes on 06-14-2001 at 08:03 AM
  5. I just found out from "dayton" that the Klip 5.1 will have clips at both ends for standard speaker wire!!! This is TOO COOL!!! This solves the last piece of the puzzle, which was making me lean towards Videologics Crossfires! Now if the dual 8" subwoofer on the new Klip 5.1 is all that its sounds as if it will be then, I'm getting those things the day they come out!!! (After I stop at a highend audio store and buy the best wire they carry!)
  6. Excellent!!! Only problem I have now is seeing just how buttkickin that new dual 8" speaker sub sounds and justifing the extra $$$ when really the 4.1 Klips is all I need! But, don't worry, I don't think it will take me too long. I'll justify it!!!
  7. To daytontp, I have been seriously considering a Dell P991 and want to know how you are liking yours so far? Why only 1280 x 1024 at 75Hz? I thought it could handle 1280 x 1024 at 85Hz! What's up? I have a NVidia GeForce 2 Ultra and a crap Dell E770 monitor. I seriously need a new monitor!
  8. I'm on the market for a new system and waiting to hear the upcoming Klipsch 5.1 before I buy. But, before I buy a Klipsch system I really want to know what the latest is on Klipsch upgrading their speakerwire! Are they going to? The ones I have heard and looked at have very crappy wire. I could change the wire but have no idea how to propperly place a 1/8" jack on it and, form the looks of the forum, I could have I very high chance of having a problem w/ a set of Klips and do not want to void their warrenty!!! So, whats the latest on the Klip wire? I hope someone from Klipsch reads this! If you don't do something about your wires (or tell me how I can w/out violating a warrenty if I buy your product) I will be weighing my options w/ a bugget system, Monsoom MM-2000 $215 or, go all out on a set of Videologic Sirocco Crossfires! I just want to say that Klipsch 4.1 speakers are excellent. But, with this one very serious yet easily fixable problem I need to know exactly how I can fix the problem myself (without a warrenty violation) or if Klip will solve this for me VERY SOON! Its hard enough sitting here waiting to hear the Klip 5.1 system when I have the cash and I'm ready to buy!!! I know a number of you guys out there have upgraded your wire yourselves. Be honest and pls tell me on a scale of 1 to 10 how much of an improvement did you hear w/ better wire installed??? This message has been edited by bradestes on 06-09-2001 at 03:38 PM
  9. I'm also on the market for a new system and waiting to hear the upcoming Klipsch 5.1 before I buy. 10. Yea, But if they are even a close second to one another the Videologic Sirocco Crossfires price is insane! I could understand if they blew the Promedias out of the water but for an extra $150 (total $439) the Videologic Sirocco Crossfires are too much. You could save money buying the upcoming Klipsch 5.1 system! Are they significantly different in any respect? I know that Videologic Sirocco Crossfires use only 100watts/RMS but its the loudest cleanest 100watts ever. Is there any one out there that as actually heard these speakers? Are they all they are cracked up to be? Or, has the improved Klipsch 4.1 system totally out performed them now? I have found that with this forum if you don't keep restating the same question the original topic can really start to stray! This message has been edited by bradestes on 06-07-2001 at 09:42 AM
  11. I have been poking around the net and found several reviews of the Videologic Sirocco Crossfires but all of them are from last year. All most every review compairs them w/ the Klipsch 2-400! They claim that the Videologic Sirocco Crossfire sound better but I was wondering if any one has heard these up against the new and improved Klipsch 4.1 system? 12. I wanted to respond to Dr. Sevrin, I was listening to the Klipsch 4.1 system when testing them out in my first responce above but, I do need to admit that after going back to CompUSA where the Monsoon MM-2000 vs. Klipsch 4.1 Demo is still setup I was missing something. After reading several topics on this forum it seemed that Klipsch speakers must be listened to and examined at high volume levels. I have now spent a lot of time listening to the Klipschs Loud! I do confess that the over all sound is much richer than the MM-2000s. I still love the clairty of the highs on Monsoons and am a little more drawn to them by there recent $215 price tag. While the Klipsch sounds richer they seem a little more cluttered sounding and I live in an apartment were I have received complaints about my measly little under powered 2.1 Altec Lancings before. I know this "cluttered" sound as to do with the extremely directional and focused sound of the Monsoons compaired to the Klipschs and not that anything is wrong with the Klips. Yes, you are correct, the midrange is much more present w/ Klips than w/ the Monsoons. There was an odd kind of stereo panning phaser effect at the end of a Dave Mathews Band song on their new album that the MM-2000s could not reproduce very well at all while the Klips produced the sound very loud and accurately. So, hear is my new dilemma. I can get MM-2000s with very nice rear speaker stands and shipping charges for the price of the Klipschs before tax or shipping depending on how they are bought. I can certainly live with the lower out-put of the MM-2000s but, will I be plagued by hearing the subtle faults of its midrange performance over Klipsch's? I'll be a constant source of annoyance with my neighbors if I buy the Klipsch b/c higher volumes are the only way they are ment to be listened to. So, I would be limmited to only certain times of the day and week when I could REALLY listen to Klip's richer sound. Or, I can forget all my concerns about price, performance, my neighbors, etc. and just get the new and upcoming Klipsch 5.1 system if its sub is as good as it sounds like it will be. Really, I don't think the 5.1 is an option b/c I would have to get a new soundcard for 5.1 decoding (thats another $80 minimum)and then those rear speaker stands from Klip (Ouch! another $100). That totals more than $600 after shipping or tax!!! Is there a cheaper place to get the Klips' rear speaker stands? I don't see them at retailers, are they only through Klipsch web store? Thanks, Brad A confused undecided Audiophile!
  13. I'm waiting to hear the up coming Klip 5.1 system before I buy. If that new Sub on the 5.1 knocks my socks off then I will be buying the Klip 5.1s. But, the Monsoons will still have some pull on me b/c of the $215 price tag.
  14. So, what made you go with Klips over Monsoons? Have you really, really taken a good hard listen to the MM-2000 Monsoons? I have been listening and favoring the Monsoons over the Klips and wrote the "talk me out of buying Monsoons" topic. I favor Monsoons greater clairty in their highs & mids over Klips greater overall volume and out-put. That seems to be the trade off to me. I'm waiting to heard Klip's new 5.1 system before buying Monsoons. The new systems sub will really have to blow me away to get me to buy them over the Monsoons. Would you mind defending your statement; "The Pro Medias only have 1 real compeditor in the preformance area and thats the Monsoons. And I would go with Pro Medias any day." I'm wondering what your preferances are and why you came to this decision? Remember also, MM-2000s cost only around $215 online and Klips can not be bought for less than $279!
