  1. Wow. I hear what you post, and see. But I don't need that really. I tell you why. I take my defective system back and exchange it. No problem, no hesitation because I know what PC system just kills everything else. I want another set of Klipsch. Seldom am I so knowing when I exchange something. Yes I note the cords are run into the back of the satelilites instead of the seperate cords with jack. Yes I notice there is no on/off switch on the subwoofer like the unit I had from 2006 had. But the real easy to tell that things are messed up is the weight of the sub woofer. When I put the sub woofer of the 2006 system into the box the new 2010 system comes out of there is a huge difference. Now I don't have a scale but the sub woofer is a lot lighter ,... a lot lighter for the new 2.1 pro media. That cannot be good for a bass driver. It is not of course! Now I plug in my new system. Oh no, this is logictech only with a higher price "has been" name and this is not the system I plugged into my exact same pc with a creative x-fi extreme music card in 2006. At that time I was just awed by the 2.1 Klipsch pro medias. No way with this one. This is expensive stuff that I could have bought logictech for a lot less and had maybe less clipping. In no way do these new ones hold up to what was. This is ashame because of such a sell out when I build my home system for audio next year I will not be looking at Klipsch products for my major system. So I guess I am thankful I found out for a 160 bills because any comapny that would do this to low end speakers with a awesome reputation and name , well darn the high road to China.............. In fact I believe I could plug in my satelites from the old system without the subwoofer and they would and do sound better then the clipping I get off this brand new set with 4 hard years of use and constant heavy metal blowing out of them. These new guys clip, and they clip easy. The bass sucks, the midrange ain't on par with anything other than run of the mill logic tech. Saying all of this are these awful,.............no they are not. They are standard and thats not where my hard spent buck is going. They are no worse and are fair enough for the average listener. But its like buying a Toyoata Tercel with a grille with the BMW emblem on it. Shop it and listen to them first before you blow a extra 50 on these. Like me do youself a favor and if they have the old 2.1 with the on/off switch on the heavy subwoofer ask what the price is of those and be quiet don't tell anyone at the store those are far superior even if a million figures have touched the voume controls. I think I will once again take these back, so now Klipsch has not only lost me as a long time customer after being so cool on them, but I have returned to units in as many weeks for repacking to sell to some other smuck. I am upset because this was a killer, I mean killer piece of equpiment for your pc rather you had a aftermarket sound card or stock and now they are ho-hum and that leaves one who had better upset. After all if you lived in Florida in 1935 you wouldn't know about AC and you can't miss what you never had but try living in Florida in 2010 without it .
  2. Hmmm.. Well, if they don't pull my thread. I haven't changed a thing since I bought my pc & equipped it with a creative X-fi music card in 2006. At that time a kick butt Klipsch 2.1 sytem was added. It cranked through slayer , maiden, & Priest steady for 4 yrs. Then it appeared I had blown it which is understandable after stereo duties and regular pc media was non-stop. So I buy a new media pro 2.1. First thing is the sub woofer is lighter, no doubt, that means it has less guts but it sounded good. The sound was Klipsch but the fear of cheaper crap from China certainly was there and came true. My 4 yr old pr was from china as well but somewhere don't ya know the company changed to cheaper crap to build the stuff with the new pairI have from Nov 2010. wow hard to believe. The system heats up under heavy use then the sub cuts off,..........never had that previously with 4 yrs of use from my old media pro. Same place, same system no upgrades no movement and the new one gets hot the sub cuts off but then it does something else cool it squeals like a pig. You reboot all is fine for awhile. Its still hot just like it was when it squealed non-stopped but it works for about 15 minutes. Now this is bull. Great speakers but you know you can only pay a chinamen so little for so long and you cut back on the materials they got to put cheap crap together and something is gonna fail. I will return these prom media and get another pair. that is far more fair then I would do with a logictech where I would demand a refund and let the manufacture eat the re-sod of the dud product to another unsuspecting buyer. But alas I feel this newer media pro 2.1 is junk. I love the speaker but cheap as hades coming forth with a bolt of lightning. Yet a third chance I give for the good sound but I wouldn't hesitate to return these all messed up in packaging to best buyes later this week. Then I will move on to the ugh logic tech for my Pc where I listen to most of my music I'm not happy as I love the speakers but screw it I got no problem with casting the media pro into the same pile as a bunch of other china made cheap crap the only thing is the price stayed the same if not higher for junk. Duh, can you wonder why?
  3. I think so because I am not a well off person who can afford to run electric devices 24hr a day. It is hard enough to pay the ever increasing rates of the power company and this makes no logic to me. I wish someone would explain better why power switch war removed but it appears that it causes the sub woofer to blow with the power surge over being cost effective for the consumer in saving on power rates. I turn the surge protector off every night cutting power to all pc and modems, When the subwoofer is in use it does generate a lot of heat into the room when its inactive it is just slightly warm. I have had the 2.1 for 4 yrs and heavy use. Many power interuptions and lots of electrical storms which have caused electronics to blow including parts of my pc but the speakers workered fine. Last night while listening to music the subwoofer just died and came on for a bit sounding blown before ceasing all sound/ Perhaps this is because I turn them on and off daily, sometimes a few times daily?
  4. This exact problem happened to me last night. I didn't take it apart I just hit the top of the subwoofer and it worked as if its blown off & on before dying completely. I think it is blown. I have never had any problem with these and hoped to get more than the 4 yrs I have had them. The satellites are working fine but and the fuse is good. Sound quality was excellent and the subwoofer was working fine it just went dead.I've put these things through a lot of hard use with plenty of loud hard rock daily for hours on end on top of the other desktop media duties. The only thing I noted in the past few months was the subwoofer seemed to be very hot even when not being used however I couldn't tell it was always like this from day one. Now that it isn't working its warm to the touch not nearly as hot as it was when it was working. Oh well while I will hold on to these I guess I have to part with some hard saved cash for another set tomorrow, Certainly worth the cost for 4 yrs of Judas Priest and Slayer they went through.
