So I have what seems to be a common issue with the ProMedia 2.1 speakers -- heavy static when turning the volume control knob. My set is probably 5+ years old and I've had the issue as long as I can remember.
I had pretty much decided to just order a replacement control pod based on a few things I had seen here. But Klipsch is out of stock right now, and it is making me think about potentially trying a contact cleaner instead.
My question is, if I just save myself from buying the contact cleaner and I hold out for the control pods to be back in stock -- is a replacement control pod now a more permanent fix? That is to say -- is Klipsch using a better quality potentiometer in the newer control pods, such that I can expect to pretty much be forever rid of this problem if I were to just replace it? Or am I ultimately going to need the contact cleaner anyhow?
