  1. Hi all, Thank you for the responses to my previous post. This is a a follow up question. Most of the sub specs list their SPL and freq reponse. But these numbers do not tell much about the bass quality. Going back to my recent purchase: RW-12D. It is a good sub for movies. It is loud and rumbles really well in movies. But it does not produce chest-pounding type of bass. I had car audio experience in the past. The sealed subs usually have tighter bass compared to ported subs. I heard a Paradigm Ultra cube 10 a few days ago. It uses passive radiator (like RSW series) and Its bass is tight. Is there any technical measurement I can use to determine the bass tightness? Transient response? By the way, I hear my music through Sony MDR-V6 headphone in the office, so I use that sound as reference. Scott
  2. dknick, Thank you for all your replies. I am not interested in the Supernova. 1. My budget is around $500. 2. I don't want a form surround in the woofer. I had a JL W3 (car audio sub) which foam surround disintegrated after a few years. I will probably start a different thread as this message has been somewhat hijacked....
  3. Hi all, I recently bought a RW-12D. It is a good sub for movies but its bass is just too muddy for my taste in music. Can someone recommend other models in Klipsch line or other brands that offer fast and tight bass? I suspect most vented subs are probabaly on the loose side in terms of bass quality. Any experience with RSW-12, XW-500d, and sw-310? They are either sealed or passive-radiator enclosures. Thanks. Scott
