It is indeed a simple system. My previous system consisting of Quads and top of the line VAC gear was much more complicated. The Quads are remarkable in clarity and convey a strong sense of transparency. Especially wonderful with human voice. Quad weaknesses are most apparent in terms of dynamics and the ability to convincingly convey the weight and impact of a symphony orchestra. The khorns tucked into the corners do not dominate the room to the extent the Quads did ... that never really bothered me. I like them both, but I decided to move to Khorns paired with the new VAC integrated amplifier. Thanks.

We have not tried our Klipschorns without the false corners. We would not have been able to get as tight a seal to the wall with the natural corners (without some carpentry). The false walls are very heavy and solid.

The system (Khorns and VAC Sigma 160i) is now well broken in and continues to perform very well indeed. For those interested in a very high quality integrated amplifier, I can recommend the VAC Sigma 160i without reservation.

Yes, in my experience SACDs are often dramatically superior to the CD version. In addition to more detail, I typically find the SACD version to be smoother and less fatiguing for long listening on my Khorns.

Earlier versions of the PS Audio power regeneration systems typically produced 300W or 500W -- great for source material, but not really enough for many power amps. The Power Plant Premier's maximum output is 1500W. Our local power is relatively noisy with substantial voltage fluctuations. The Power Plant really cleans it up. PS Audio has now replaced the Power Plant Premier with the Power Plant P5 and Power Plant P10 models. Thanks, I really like the new system. Very different than the Quads of course. The Quads have notable strengths ... as do the Khorns ... just very different. Hard to say one is better than the other. All speakers are a collection compromises. I have decided that the Khorns when paired with a very high quality and complimentary amplifier embody a specific set of strengths and compromises that I enjoy. Cheers...

Thanks Moray. My previous system consisted of Quad speakers and VAC amplification. I was also very impressed with the VAC amplifiers in that application. In this system I was looking for simplicity, musicality, and a system that I would be happy with for a long time. In the 1970's I had Cornwall speakers and wanted Khorns but never had an appropriate room until now. At that time Klipsch was offering many custom finishes and I had always liked the rosewood finish.

Hello: Actually I have had the system for some months now but have been very busy. I was looking for a simple SACD-based high performance system. Settled on new rosewood Khorns (some of you saw them at the factory during the pilgrimage), a VAC Sigma 160i integrated amplifier, a Sony XA5400ES SACD player, and a PS Audio Power Plant Premier AC Regenerator. The rosewood khorns are beautiful and I am particularly impressed with the VAC amplifier in this application. I have attached some photos. I appreciate the excellent advice I received from the members of this forum while contemplating various component and set-up options. Thanks.

Thank you for all the excellent suggestions. Really uncertain. The amplification is a VAC Sigma160i. I am leaning toward trying them in the existing corners and then if not completely satisfied ... building the false walls. I suspect the system will imagine a good bit better with the speakers more like 18 ft apart. Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice. We will keep the same window treatments as in the photo (Roman shades). The window molding protrudes about an inch off the wall. According the the template provided by Klipsch, the base molding should just fit. A major concern is having a solid center image with the 21.5 ft. wall. I would prefer not to employ a center speaker (might be hard to get Klipsch to make something appropriate in rosewood) and I would need an amplifier for the center speaker. I will give this some thought. Maybe I should try the Khorns in the corners and see how they do as a first step. Thanks.

Hello: Our Klipschorns are on order from Klipsch and will arrive in a month or so. The listening room is 21.5 ft. along the long wall and 14.7 ft along the shorter wall. Ceiling height is 11 ft. The room is carpeted. Khorns will be along the long wall. I am concerned that the wall might be a little long for an ideal center stereo image. Also, (see attached photo), note that there are windows about 30 inches from the vertex of each corner. I am not sure how much of a problem the windows will be. The template on the floor represents the footprint of the Khorns. One option is to build a pair of false corners, perhaps also with a hard surface (as opposed to carpet) on which to place the Khorns. This would permit me to position the speakers at a more optimal 18-20 ft (or slightly less) separation. What is the considered opinion of this sage group? Build the false walls? Install speakers in room corners as they are and see how it works? Thanks in advance.

"Quick side question what Ducati is your bike of choice? I've owned a 99 monster 750, a 00 Supersport 900, and a 01 748 that I had bored out to a 853 with a full termi system. Currently bikeless and most likely safer but I love Italian bikes." Right now we have two Ducati's: A relatively stock GT 1000 with Termi's and other modest tweaks for around town and a ST4s (abs) heavily modified for fast two-up riding in the twisties. Until recently we did a lot of Ducati riding in Italy but shoulder problems are making it less fun.

Thanks to all on the helpful responses. I was also surprised to learn (from Amy) about the lack of a facility for auditioning speakers at Klipsch. She suggested that I post here and that perhaps some current owners might be willing to demonstrate their speakers. Thanks to all who responded.

I am in the market for new speakers and find the K-horns and maybe even the Jubilees very interesting. In the 1970's I owned a pair of Cornwall speakers. It is a challenge to find a dealer anywhere near me (Pensacola, Florida) who has K-horns to audition. Frankly, I imagine that they would not be set-up properly in any case. Somewhat surprisingly, I learned that Klipsch does not have a demonstration listening room in Hope. I realize that it might be particularly hard to audition the Jubilees. Any ideas on where my wife and I might be able to hear the K-horns or Jubilee speakers in Pensacola, Mobile, Gainesville, Ocala, or Tampa areas? We are also in Washington DC frequently. Thanks in advance.
