  1. There is an Acurus 5 channel amp with 200 watt/c in the Garage Sale that looks brand new that would work well for you. The seller may help work out a deal with you.

I was going to suggest same amp until I saw the OP is in Halifax. If Bill was gonna ship north of the border that baby would already be sitting in my set up here in Toronto !! [:'(]

  2. The RC-62/RF-63 worked for me for about 2 years until I replaced it with the mighty RC-64 and my system entered another dimension.

Replace the RF63's with RF35's and I experienced the same as Williand with switching from Rc62 > Rc64

If there were reasonably priced Rf 63's or 83's up here in Canada I'd replace my 35's (but they holdup very well)

  3. The letters stand for the last names of DreamWorks founders Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen.

Interesting.....20 plus years working in the film industry and I never heard that acronym before in reference to Dreamworks. Always fun working on a Dreamwork project.. They have donated alot of money, material and expertise to a University animation program here .

  4. it wont hurt your speakers....moving from the 8ohm tap to the 4ohm tap cuts your power in half...so you would have to crank up the volume to make up for the power drop,,,,,your autoformer might feel a little warmer.....you do need to check which model Heresy's you have....some Hersey II's have a round plastic speaker connection plate that says 4 ohms impedeance .....some say 8 ohms.

    THANK YOU !

I just assumed they were 8ohm....they are in fact 4ohm

Switched over and sounds just as nice and possibly a lil fuller !....and did have to turn up a lil to compensate when switched.

    Thank you again Sir!

  5. I think it's the autoformers in the Mc that makes it ok.

Would love a more technical know-it-all type of answer.

    Nice score.

Thanks Rick, that`s what I read as well. When time comes I`ll pm you if you have anyone in GTA that refurbs Macs.

  6. Hey Guys, I just found and bought a MC-250 for 300$ from a guy who stated it has been sitting for the last 6-7 yrs after Uncle died. He knows it is all stock and works perfectly. I ran home and hooked it up to a my Soundstage 2 tube pre amp feeding Heresy II'. It sounds amazing so far.

My question is I read online that to increase the possible sounstage I could hook my heresy's to the 4ohm binding instead of the 8ohm I have them connected to now.I am new to Mac and wanted your opinions before trying it out and possibly hurting my Heresy's.

  7. I've read not to skimp on an aftermarket bulb so I'm wanting to see if anyone has any recommendations on where to purchase OEM lamps from. So far, I've found these two sources from the AVS forum.

$317 with free shipping from buy.com - Link

$306 including shipping from Provantage - Link

I bought a OEM bulb quickly from Apex for my Optoma hd65 for a good price. When I received it I realized it looked differently and went back to check website and it stated it was in a "generic housing" . 1300 hours later it's been a solid lamp.

Here's link to your bulb from them

This one is from Panasonic as advertised

  8. If you are going to use the meter to aid in the setup of your home theater, i would suggest getting a RTA from the app store. I can be quite helpful to know where it is loud as well as how loud it is.

Any chance you can provide a link?....Im curious and could not locate what your refferring to.

    Thanks

  9. Go local first Williand, I'm showing interest as I'm looking for something like that and would prefer to help out a forum member ,but only if your not getting nibbles in US. Good luck but shouldn't last long with the others needing this great ampcloser to you.

    Steve,

You are technically 2nd in line but if you are willing to give up your spot to a local guy, it would make it easier on me.Big Smile

I wish the "locals" had the gear you guys have at the prices your looking for. Go local Bill !! The search continues, until then my trusty Dallas sent Carver A705 will keep me content!

    Good luck

  10. and one not even close to local(Canada). I prefer not to ship but will since I do have the original box.
