  1. I recently got a new set of RF-82's (not ii) with an RC-62. My room is similar size of yours. I'm driving my speakers with a Marantz SR5005 Receiver/Amp. It's rated at 100w per channel and it can get louder than I can stand with no distortion. It's 7.1 capable, has zone 2 controls, has plenty of inputs, and it has Pre outs so you can add an amp if you want, lots of setup options and It runs about +/-$600. I'm sure the Yammy you are talkin about will give you plenty of power cuz like JasonJ said the High efficiency of these speakers... I don't know if there is $1200 difference between what I have and what you are lookin at... you can spend as little or as much as you want I suppose []
  2. I watched Frank Miller's Sin City on Blu Ray last night. Gruesome movie but awesome special effects! Lots of LFE Explosions and the bass track on the music is sick! When Marv is standing in the rain it sounds like you're right in the middle of a shower.
  3. The RW-10 is discontinued =/ or I would've ordered one from my Klipsch dealer...I'm gonna demo the Sunfire after work today... I let ya'll know how it turns out. I know I could get more bang for my buck if I bought something used or from an internet retailer, but I like having having face to face support. And I like the service I get from a locally owned mom n pop store. If I have any problems I can just go back to the store I bought the equipment from and let the pros fix em for me... like with the KSW
  4. I just bought the same speaker system with RS-42's for surrounds being the only difference... I'm driving them with a Marantz SR-5005 Which is rated at 100w/ ch RMS... They sound great and will get louder than I can stand with no distortion [] I'm sure you will have plenty of power.
  5. The KSW-12 I bought last week is blowing fuses and after reading some not so stellar posts about the Synergy subs, ("KSW = Krap Sub Woofer" etc.) I am taking it back to the store I bought it from (YAY me for buying local...the audio store said if I wasn't satisfied I can bring it back for a full refund...no shipping to deal with!) There is a store here selling Sunfire that is recommending the Sunfire SDS-12 as a replacement for the KSW... Does anyone have any experience with this sub that can offer some feedback? I posted this same message in the Powered Sub forum but didn't get a reply so I'm trying here. Thanks JD
  6. I just bought a brand new Reference system which RF-82s, RC-62, RS-42s, and a KSW-12. The system is a week old and the Sub has popped a couple of fuses. After reading about common problems and poor performance reviews of the KSW-12, I am considering taking it back to the store I bought it. After discussing the fuse issue the store said if I wasn't satisified, then they would take it back for a full refund (Which is why I'm so glad I bought local!). Another local store sells Sunfire products and have a deal on a SDS-12. My question is does anyone on here have one of these subs and if so can you offer me some feedback on them? I know alot of people on here recommend Emotiva, Hsu, Paradigm etc., but I want to stick to what the local boys are selling. Thanks JD
  7. Heck yeah! I love it... This systems sounds great and will get louder than I can stand without any distortion. The Marantz has plenty of power and you can set your speakers up just about any way you want. The only negatives I have about the Marantz is the blocky black and white 1980's computer text in the setup menu's is ugly and the Universal remote doesn't have my Motorola cable box in its database. That being said once I got my speakers all set up I haven't had to look at the setup menus and I am gonna get a nicer remote which I probably would have done anyway.
  8. the Dark Knight was a treat... am now listening to the DTS version of the rock opera Tommy by The Who
  9. Finally got all the wires hooked up and ran through the Audessy auto setup... I couldn't wait to try em out! I was like a kid on Christmas morning! I chose Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album to break my new babies in. I started the first track impatiently waiting for the heartbeat like bass drum to gradually start bumping. I think I almost felt it in my chest before I even heard it. I got a tingling feeling in my toes and goosebumps on my arms as the voices, knocking, and lady screaming gradually came in and WOW that first E-minor chord on Breathe almost brought tears to my eyes. I've only ever heard it through cheap headphones or my factory car stereo and it was a totally new experience! I am thrilled with my new system... It was late when I finally got everything put together last night so I didn't get a chance to try out the Blu-ray. I'm planning on checking out Sin City tonight... I can't wait!!!
  10. What's the deal with these HIFI 5.1 formats? When I asked a salesman at a local store about them he got all glassy eyed and said I was the first person who ever asked about it. I am currently using a PS3 for my Blu-ray player but alas it isn't a first edition which I do know was the only version capable of playing SACD's. Is there a digital computer based equivelent like iTunes or Rhapsody for these formats that will play through the HDMI output of my pc so I don't have to drop several hundred dollars on a BD/SACD player or is it not even worth pursuing... I've never heard anything played through these type formats but I'd love to hear Dark Side of the Moon in HIFI 5.1 surround =)
  11. I got a 250' roll of 16 ga speaker wire from lowes... the install manual Says you can hook up the speakers via bare wire, spade lug, or banana plug... im initially gonna install the wires bare. What is the advantage if any of using a banana plug?
  12. Yeah, they are a locally owned and operated family business here in MS... They have two stores, one in Meridian and one in Columbus. They are the only authorized Klipsch dealers North of Jackson, MS. The service was good and they had a wide selection of Reference Models to demo... The Meridian store is the home store. That's where the warehouse is and there's more to demo there. It's just nice to be able to deal with someone who sells quality products, you can talk face to face with, who know's their product, and are willing to negotiate with you unlike best buy or wally world... I wish they were a Marantz dealer as well, I would've gotten the receiver from them too... It's a shame I have these beautiful speakers staring me in the face and I have to listen to these pitiful bose cinemate instead lol
  13. Store is Hoopers USA in Columbus, MS... I bought the 82s that were on display... the last ones they had left from last years model
