  1. Hi all,

I have not posted too often lately but I have a question for all my friends on this site.

I have a pair of RS-52 ii surrounds and a pair of RB-61 ii speakers. I was wondering which to use as surrounds (to the side of seating area) and which to use as back surrounds (behind seating). The room is open on the left side to the kitchen area and seating is about 11 feet to screen. There is about 7 ft behind the seating area. Room has a vaulted ceiling which is about 8 ft high in front and about 15 ft high in back. I am using RF-7ii and RC-64 for front speakers. I have an Emotiva XPA-5 amp and plan to use two of the amps in my Pioneer VSX-52 for the back surrounds.

    Thanks for any comments.

  2. I just bought a Pioneer Elite VSX-52 and am very happy with it. It will upgrade to 1080p and does have AirPlay too. It also has an internet tuner so you can listen to internet radio from around the globe if you connect it to your home internet connection. If you have lots of money and want even better amps you can go for the SC-57 or SC-55.

You can look at all these receivers on Pioneers web site.

  3. Thanks everyone for your opinions. I really don't want to wall mount the TV since I am renting and have always worry about wall mounting something that weights over 100 pounds. I think I will probably keep the speakers I now have and have been thinking about getting an amp for the front speakers. Of course that means I will need to get a new receiver since the one I now have does not have pre-outs.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

  4. I have a chance to get a new RC-64 not RC-64ii for about $600.00 at my local retailer. I have a pair of RF-82ii and a RC-62ii at the present time. Will the RC-64 sound better with the RF-82iis or should i stick with my RC-62iis? If i switch I will also need a new TV stand since I will not be able to fit the RC-64 into the present stand.

    Thanks for your opinions

  5. I agree with most of the others that have given you advise. Get the RC-62ii. I just upgraded from the RC-52ii and the difference is very noticeable. I use the system mostly for TV and a lot of the dialog comes out of the center speaker, so do not go cheap on this. I also upgraded to RS-52iis for side surrounds. The RS-52s do much better for base than RS-42iis. Also use your bigger speakers for the side surrounds and the smaller ones in the back.

  6. I have just upgraded to RS-52ii from the RS-42ii. The 52s can put out more base and seem to fill my room better. They are quite a bit larger than the 42s and look better on my speaker stands. The 52s also seem to sound better to me with my front speakers (RF-62ii and RC-62ii.

  7. According to the specification sheets these two speakers look pretty much the same. What is the biggest difference between the two? I can get some new RS-10s for about $60 a speaker less than the RS-41s.
