My room size is about 12'x15' with about 8' ceilings. I'm on the top floor of a two family home with the landlord occupying the first floor. So there is a small amount of concern for overpowering sound, but they are fairly easygoing and I just would have to make sure I don't blast the volume after midnight.That said, a sub is not something I think I can realistiaclly take full advantage of, but please correct me if I'm wrong. As far as budget is concerned, it's tough to say. I'm willing to make an investment in whatever I purchase, even if it means I must slowly build the components over a year. So for example, if using the KSB's won't match very well with any other fronts I purchase, I could consider new fronts and center altogether, and maybe use the KSB's as rears to tide me over until I figure out surround options? The short answer to your question is, over the next 6 months, I could see myself shelling out $600-$1,000. The combination and order of purchase is what I'm really grappling with.

After many years of being broke, I'm finally able to start allocating some money into my living room. Unfortunately, I'm totally ill equipped on the sound side of things. I'm looking to build a system off of a pair of KSB bookshelf's I bought many years ago. They've served me great over the years, and single-handedly convinced me that my next investment would be in a Klipsch system. That being said, does it make sense to incorporate them with some new additions?I'm thinking the Reference Line, but I'm open to suggestions for sound matching. I'll likely be grabbing the Pioneer Elite VSX 31 receiver in the next month or so. As such, I was thinking of a short term set up involving the KSB's as fronts paired with the RC-42 center to start off, eventually upgrading to the RF-52's by Christmas and moving the KSB's to the back. I'd then likely acquire the rest of the line over the course of the year to flesch out the full 7.1 channels. Is this a logical approach? Would the initial bookshelf and center matchup sound terrible? Finally, in the way of overall sound integrity, what would I most noticeably be lacking?
