Thanks for the reply! Don't think I'll mess with any soldering or such. Would have no idea what I'm doing. $80 is not too bad. Still not sure I shouldn't just replace them with a new set though. What's the consensus on the new wireless promedia 2.1 speakers? Might be a worthwhile upgrade. My one question about the set is, with those would I still be able to plug the speakers directly into a laptop/ipod, or would it only work wireless via the USB dongle? Also, would a wireless keyboard on the same wireless frequency interfere with the signal at all? Thanks

On further inspection, it seems that one of the capacitators has failed and leaked. What to do about that? I contacted klipsch and they said I should replace the amp, which would cost $80. (Which part is the amp again? lol). Would a new amp fix the capacitator problem? Thanks

I brought my promedia 2.1 speakers to college, and they blew out on the first night (people were playing them too loudly). I took out the fuse and saw it was blown, so I ordered replacement fuses which finally came today. However, each one instantly blew out when I turned on the speakers. I opened up the back panel (with some difficulty) but do not see anything that appears to be visibly damaged. Any suggestions? There are no sounds coming out from the sub or tweeters, and the light doesn't come on. I've had them for about 5 years, so they may have had their run, but I'd love an easy fix if there is one instead of replacing them ($$$). Thanks!
