  1. cool. so i'll buy 2 of those for the two sub connections, plus 4 for the back of the amp (2 in & 2 out) plus i'll put a Speakon plate(?) on each of the subs?
  2. what kind of connection goes in the back of the amp? http://www.behringer.com/assets/NU3000DSP_P0AHO_Rear_XXL.png i assume it's some sort of plug that has both the + & - attached to it for each channel?
  3. I would have bet good money that you would have told him to bridge it. Personally I'd run it stereo especially if I had Audessey with SubEQ. You're just throwing that away otherwise. FWIW...i do have audessey with subEQ with my denon x4000
  4. this is what i bought: NU3000DSP (Delivers 2 x 1500 Watts into 2 Ohms; 2 x 900 Watts into 4 Ohms; 3000 Watts into 4 Ohms) HT18 18" w/dual 4 ohm coils thanks for your answers above. i'm still not sure what you're saying so i'll be asking more questions as the build starts/progresses. probably will diagram what i think it should be and check with y'all before i fry anything. i'll start a build thread once i get going. btw, when i was asking about 2 vs 1 wire going to a 4 ohm speaker, i meant 2 sets of black/red vs. 1 set of black/red.
  5. another quick question...if i'm getting the dual 4 ohm drivers, does that mean there's 2 speaker wires going to each sub? i only ordered 50 feet of 12awg wire from monoprice and am afraid i won't have enough now if i'm running 4 lines. thanks!
  6. i'm hoping it's not overkill. i had a thread here where i asked if they would be too much. unsurprisingly, the answer came back it shouldn't be a problem. if it is, i'll just start saving for a set of RF-7's.
  7. prolly should have told my wife. lol. wonder how much i can get for my old sub....a HSU STF-3 in perfect condition
  8. Thanks! I should just send you my questions since you're always so helpful.
  9. 1 - Planning on building a couple of Stonehendge builds. What's the difference between the HT18 and the HST18...aside from a decent amount of money? Couldn't find the spec difference. Probably wouldn't have meant anything to me anyhow. 2 - Do I need the 2 or 4 ohm version? 3 - If I'm pairing it up with the Beringer iNuke DPS amp, do I need buy the NU6000DSP (Delivers 2 x 3100 Watts into 4 Ohms, 2 x 1600 Watts into 8 Ohms) or would the NU3000DSP (Delivers 2 x 1500 Watts into 2 Ohms; 2 x 900 Watts into 4 Ohms; 3000 Watts into 4 Ohms) be sufficient?
  10. where can you get it for $650?

still just the single HSU STF-3. i have also been toying with the idea of front height speakers. i could recess a couple behind the screen at a height of about 5'. would have to get an AT screen though. hmmm...

From the album: HT in progress...

The futon looks so lonely in this pic. Waiting to completely finish off the project with some real HT furniture and a couple of stonehenge subs.
  13. ok...you guys got me thinking now. time to start saving and scouring the internet for deals!
  14. one more question..would the -35 surrounds work ok with the RF-7 since they're both Reference series?
  15. Thanks for the ideas. I'm probably going to build a couple of the Stonehenge ported subs from diysoundgroup. found this today as well: http://houston.craigslist.org/ele/4935178119.html don't know how to justify the purchase though. wonder how much i could get for my RF-35 setup and HSU STF-3 sub. hmmm....
  16. If you are sticking with Reference, the mentioned, RF-7/RC-7 combo as well as RF-83/RC-64 or RF-63/RC-64 combos will give you a noticeable improvement. I run RS-35's as surrounds with my RF-63/RC-64 combo and I feel they mate up just fine. Where do you reside? Bill I live just outside Indy
  17. So...I am starting to consider possibly upgrading my HT speakers. I have the full compliment of -35's...fronts, center, and surrounds. If I wanted to move up to something bigger, what should I be looking at. Not looking for top of the line or the very newest technology. Just want a noticeable difference. The ability to keep the surrounds I have would be a plus but not necessary. Ability to drive them isn't a factor because either my receiver (Denon X4000) could handle it or I'd invest in an amp. I'd probably try to buy used but would look for good deals on new in the usual places. Any thoughts? Oh...please keep this quiet. If my wife saw this thread I'd be...well, it wouldn't be good. Haha.
  18. Just tell people it's the bathroom. Paint a moon on the front. hahaha. that's a great idea. but i don't want any drunks pooping on my sub.
  19. Well since you said you would be interested in a DIY project, there are many out there you can google. They have everything from a small sealed 18 to a horn loaded one that isn't a difficult build, though it is QUITE large. Cinema F20 Bryant lolz....i cannot imagine putting that thing in my house!
