Basement makes my 50" look tiny. I told my wife we need a 70" to fix that. She isn't buying it.

    what subs are those?
  3. I don't know yet. I'll let you know when I get it all set up. I'd like to pick up a Harman Kardon AVR 3600 to power ihe system. I'm currently running an AVR630
  4. Well...I sold the RB-35 pair, added another RS-35, and upgraded to RF-35 in the front. It cost me $200 for everything so I'm pretty happy with it.
  5. Thanks for the responses. You can tell this is an adult forum because you all are up before 8. Haha. What's a good movie to check out the rears in 7.1?
  6. I'm asking because I have a bit of a dilemma. I am upgrading my system from a 6.1 setup to 7.1. I currently have RB-35's in the front, a RC-35, three RS-35's for surround, and a HSU sub. Tomorrow I'm picking up a set of used RF-35's which I will use as my mains. He's also basically throwing in another RS-35 which will give me four of them. So...if barely any sound goes to the rear, won't the RS-35's handle it fine? If so, I'll sell my RB-35's and maybe put the money towards a new receiver to replace my aging HK 630.
  7. i'll likely be sitting 7-8 feet away from the fronts. i do have the ability to adjust the volume on the rear speakers so hopefully i'll be able to turn them up enough to help if i get bookshelf speakers. keep in mind, it's just a basement living room remodel. nothing like you have so i'm not trying to get the best possible setup. somewhere in the middle of what i think is good and what my wife thinks is sufficient is the goal. []
  8. not to belabour the point but i could move up to rb-61's and mount them on the back wall this would actually help as the ports are in the front so i wouldn't have to give them space like i would would with the 51's. would those be better?
  9. 4 feet? hmmm...i was planning on putting them on the back wall, approx 13 feet behind the main listening position. why would the 51's only be good up to 4 feet and what would be preferrable at that distance. sorry for all the nOOb questions.
  10. all right...i think i'm just going to pick up some RB-51's to put in the back as my rear surround speakers. nothin fancy but i think it should work. opinions?
  11. meh....i can't buy the old RS-35's in any quantity so that's not the issue. what would be a newer iteration of the RF-35 that would both match my current speakers and be easier to find than the RF-35's?
  12. would a simple set of RB-10's work ok as rear surrounds? they can be had for not much $
  13. About 5 years ago I bought a RC-35, a pair of RB-35 for the front, and 3 RS-35's for the side and rear surround for a 6.1 setup. I've now moved into a new house and want to have a 7.1 system but don't know enough about either my current system or the newer options that are available to proceed. I started looking for an additional RS-35 for the rears but can't find a single one anywhere and don't know where to proceed. I've read here and elsewhere that a set of bookshelf speakers actually works well as rear surrounds, especially if you're going to be sitting a decent distance away from them. I'm considering the following options and would love your thoughts/additional suggestions. - Getting a set of RF-35's off ebay for the front and moving the RB-35's to the rear - Putting a set of RS-42 II speakers in the rear - Adding a smaller set of bookshelf speakers to the rear. However, I've got no idea which one's to pick. There's someone here selling a set of RB-51 II's. Will those work? - Waiting until another RS-35 shows up for sale here/ebay/craiglist/etc. Thanks for your help!
