  1. I had this happen to one of my 4.2's, and ended up just getting it refoamed at a local speaker repair shop. You're not going to get the same sound quality if you use anything other than an original driver as they're specifically designed to work with the 5.2's crossover/cabinet etc. You could try Ebay for an original, but of course it would be just as old and who knows how it was treated or how long it will last. Your best bet is to just send them both in, and save yourself some future trouble. Otherwise get them repaired locally by a trustworthy shop, which will be cheaper.
  2. Turned out to be a driver issue. Whoops.
  3. Would you recommend placing the second sub in the rear of the room?
  4. Although mustang guy's response was the most helpful[Y], thanks everyone for the info. The goal is to pull this off as cheaply as possible without any loss in quality. A "Y" splitter it will be. Now how to wire up one of my QSC Ksubs into the mess...
  5. My receiver only has 1 LFE output...and I'd like to add another sub without using the high level ins. I currently have an RW12d, and am looking into getting another. I dont want to buy a new receiver with 2 LFE outs just so I can have another sub. Would it be possible to run a splitter from the LFE out on the receiver without quality/signal loss? Thanks!
  6. So I've got this denon AVR-1604 I'm trying to get up and running for my mini theater, source being a pc. Im running an optical cable out of the PC for audio into the receiver, and have verified that there is a signal all the way down the line. Problem is, I have no remote for the receiver. I didnt lose it...it just wasnt included. I paid 25 bucks for the thing so I cant complain. Without the remote I cant seem to enable the optical ins on the denon. Are there any ways around this? wittttttthout buying a remote [:@] Here's a picture of last years townhouse entertainment system for no reason. 15,000 watts of nintendo 64. ( The police enjoyed it, but were required to write a ticket anyway.) The Klipsch and Mackie systems run completely seperate from eachother.
  7. Also may want to take it apart and look for anything obvious(broken solder joints etc), but if you werent there...who knows what else happened.
  8. I did see loads of posts regarding the Bash amps in those subs, but none of them got any sound from their woofer. If the amp was shot wouldn't there be zero output from the speaker? Not trying to argue here, just wondering. I did return it and get my money back. I told them I'd pursue the issue with it next week, and assuming it was the woofer itself, get it reconed/replaced and purchase the sub for the difference. If its the amp...well I hear that runs around 165 and why bother replacing it if its a faulty design. I'll be bringing the whole unit into Midwest Speaker repair here in the Twin Cities.
  9. Yes it moves, no grinding either.
  10. I've got that set myself, they're awesome. Was it a satellite speaker or the subwoofer that fell? If it was the sub it should have gone straight through the floor...
  11. Yesterday I purchased a barely used Synergy Sub-10. I went home and hooked it up, and the woofer appears to be blown. It powers on, has a quiet buzz with no signal, and when given a signal it's reproduced with EXTREME distortion. Volume increases with gain, which leads me to believe the amp is good. I called the sellers (seemingly very honest couple) and these are the facts they gave me: -Purchased 2 years ago. -Used for a couple of weeks and worked fine. -They decided they didnt want a theater. -It was disconnected and stored in a warm, dry climate up until now. Its a tough situation because I can tell they're being honest. So....If what they say is true, how could it end up blown? Any idea's?
  12. I had scheduled a pick up on them, but then ran into a pair of Synergy F2's for $150. The only thing I was concerned about was the low end on the rf3's, but I went with the F2's so I cant say. I'm sure I'll get a pair of rf 3/5/7's one of these days..
  13. Thanks for the response, I may have to jump on these then.
  14. I came across a pair of rf3's for $250. Seems like a good deal to me, but I haven't been able to find any more for sale to compare. Anyone know the going rate on these?
  15. My KSF-C5 center channel is in need of a replacement woofer. Could anyone here recommend one? Thanks
