  1. I just cancelled my order. It was actually sold by beach audio, not price pros. I found an authorized dealer near my area. I listened to a Velodyne Optimum 12 and thought it was nice. THe owner let me purchase the floor model for $850.00 out the door. I figure if i don't like it i'll sell it later on.
  2. I did purchase it from Price Pros not knowing any better. It has not shipped yet so I can still cancel it. I saw it here at... http://xform.audiogoshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7170&offer_id=B001HKO7Q0 for $219.00 as well. I figured that was too good to be true. The amazon website says it has a three year warranty from price pros. I plan on using it mostly for movies but for some music as well. Which sub would you recommend for around $800 to $900 then?
  3. I just purchased a Velodyne Optimum Series 10-Inch Subwoofer in black for $899.99 after shipping off of Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with this subwoofer? Does anyone know if this is a good price? Thank you
  4. After playing some music and movies, I'm starting to think I would like something nicer. It's very difficult to find a nicer sub in a retail store and I'm worried about buying something online without being able to easily return it.
  5. I picked up a SW-112 from my local electronics store for $535.00. I have 30 days to return it if I don't like it. I'm trying to figure out all of the different settings to adjust right now. Does anyone have any opinions of this sub?
  6. My Living room is about 13 x 15 and there is really only two walls as it opens up to the dinning room on one side and stairs to the second floor on another side. I want clarity more than loudness. I don't want my neighbors to complain. I will probably never turn the sub up much anyways as it tends to bother even me at high levels. Both of my subwoofers I bought with my computer speakers were always used at the lowest levels. Maybe the sound annoyed me at higher levels because they were cheap. I don't know.
  7. What are your opinions on ported vs sealed. After reading a thing or two on the Internet, I think I'm leaning towards sealed.
  8. I'm looking for new with a warranty. I also want it to look nice. I'm not sure my DIY would look of the same quality of the speakers I have in my home theater.
  9. What is the best subwoofer for under $800.00? I need a subwoofer to complete my home theater system. I really do not want to spend more than $800.00. If I could find something that would go well with my current setup for as low as $500.00 that would be great. I do not know anything about subwoofers. I have never been a fan of a lot of bass when I watch movies or play games. However, I have always used very low quality computer speakers and subwoofers in the past. I do not want to annoy my neighbors in the surrounding houses when I watch moves so I do not need anything that will shake the walls. The houses in my neighborhood are about twelve feet apart. I have looked over subwoofers on the Klipsch and Velodyne websites. I have no idea what I'm looking at when I read the specs. I'm not sure what size subwoofer I need either. Any guidance, suggestions, or comments would be appreciative. Thank you
  10. That's what I thought and I don't have that problem. Correction by the way. My receiver goes up to a max of 18db.
  11. I'll get a sub for sure. I just got my center and surround speakers last month. I can only afford so much at a time. If I were to get an external amp like the Emotiva, does my reciever still have a major influence on the sound as far as how warm or bright the sound is?
  12. It is hard for me to explain. I am new to home theater audio. My only experience is with using a Logitech z-5500 5.1 setup with my computer. It has been a year or so since I have even used that. This Klipsch setup is my real first HT setup and I don't have anything to compare it to, so I'll do my best. I feel like with my current setup there isn't a lot of clarity. My receiver plays between -80ish db to over 30db I think. I have never really gone over 10db on the receiver. I feel like between -10db to 10db, there is not a big difference in loudness. There is a difference, it just isn't impressive. I was thinking that if I turned the volume up a little bit I would hear more clarity in different sounds. I'm just not impressed. My girlfriend is an opera singer so most of what I'm using to test are some of her blu ray operas. I try to listen to pieces wih a lot of sound from the orchestra. I also tested a few of the new Star Wars movies on blu ray. Again, it sounded nice but it didn't impress me. The only speakers that did impress me, and I hope I don't upset anyone here, were $1500 each B&W floorstanding speakers. I don't even remeber what I was listening to. It was at BestBuy a few months ago. They are the speakers with the Kevlar woofers. I felt like whatever I was listening just sounded nice, impressive, and had a real distinct and clear difference in the different sounds. To all you experts out there, I know I sound like I dont know what I'm talking about or that I'm crazy. I actually think that I have a good ear for what sounds good, I just don't know how to articulate it.
  13. Any recomendations on which sub and amp would be good for my setup?
