Hello Dere
I finally got my hands on a pair of high end Klipsch speakers!
I have been an admirer of the Khorns for more years than I like to admit to but was never able to consider them because of their cost,(Some things do not change - I still can't consider a set of horns beyond the ones that my wife's priest assures her I will wear in the great beyond ).
That said - I went to RadiocraftS in Calgary,Alberta a few weeks ago and purchased a set of Promedia 2.1's. Luckily my wife was with me and was present when I asked Doug Stone to light up a pair of KLF 30's. He played his cards well,(I used to be in sales), and unlike so many audio salespeople I have encountered resisted the temptation of loading up Metallica or some other chainsaw quartet and played Louis Armstrong singing It's a Wonderful World. At one point I could literally feel his accompianist's fingers sliding along a middle string. I stood there with my mouth slightly agape thinking "My God these things are beautiful but - There is no way!"
I turned to mein frau,(Who was also standing there with her jaw hanging open),and said Well let's go home and she asked "How much did he say they are ? " I told her that they were a discontinued line and were C$ 1700.00 and she looked a little uptight before asking, How the Hell are we going to get them home?
Yee Haww!!
We have been lov - er - listening to them for a couple of weeks now and enjoying them like no others we have owned or listened to,(other than a pair of
Khorns a friend of mine had many years ago).
I drive those beauties with and old Hitachi SR-2004 receiver. I am aware that that puppy has a Lot more power than mein KLF's require but they do sound lovely with it. Can anyone point me toward any reviews regarding that receiver? I also have a pair of Pioneer HPM-200's that were produced at the same time - Can anyone point in the direction of a contemporary review ?
