  1. I could be wrong, but at least 18-24 inches from the back wall. Mine are two foot off the wall. Since I probably won't have up to 2 ft of space to work with, can I put t The 82's sort of in the corner, diagonally facing the center of the listening area or is this a bad move?

  7. That's where i'm looking, but to return would mean shipping and restocking fee
  8. I did ask, but they don't match online, only local. That would make everything so much easier. Oh well
  9. So how much room do they need?
  10. @ cask05 The demo room was bigger by about 3ft each way, than the room in my house, The ceiling was about 10 feet or so high. My ceilings are about 15 feet high and my room opens into a dining room in an L formation. The demo room was your normal listening room, lots of speakers everywhere, with the rf82 about 6 inches or so from the wall. The sub was in the back of the room. They had some smaller speakers in front and to the sides of the towers. They weren't completely buried, but there was about 4 different towers in the area of both rf82. No sound panels, but I won't have those at home, and the receiver was a Yamaha. Not sure of model, but my model is a Yamaha rxv_671. My room is about 19x12, listening area about 13x12. I've heard Yamaha isn't the best with these speakers for music, but I plan to use this system primarily for movies/sports. This place does have a 30 day return option, but I stupidly forgot to ask about restocking fees. I also was hoping to buy online, because they're about $500 cheaper. I guess I could try them from store than buy online, but them I would feel like a real scumbag. Guilty conscious of mine
  11. I live in the east bay area of California. About a half hour east of Oakland
  12. So I've been doing my research for several weeks now, and have started, or participated in a few threads on this forum, gaining tons of knowledge from the incredible members. I've spoken with speaker installers, speaker sales reps, read tons and tons of reviews, and I was finally able to narrow down what speaker set I wanted to buy. My problem that I was having was that I couldn't find anywhere to do the most important research, LISTEN to them. I finally found a store about an hour away from me that at least had the fronts I wanted, the rf82II's. They didn't have the center I wanted, rc62II, but they did have the 52. From what I've read, the 62II is a big improvment over the 52, but since I had yet to actually hear any Klipsch speakers, I figured it was better than nothing. Everything I've read or been told about these speakers has been EXTREMELY positive. The only negative I can find is that for some, Klipsch speakers are too "bright." With all this positive I was just gonna order my speakers, but I decided to haul the kids out to go and listen at the one store I found. I was like a giddy little kid on christmas morning, I was so excited. However, when I finally got to hear them, using the Transformers 2 blu ray, it was not exactly what I expected. The rep was running the speakers off a receiver, not the same as mine, but similar. I was hoping for that movie theater (ish) experience, and it just wasn't there. I turned the volume up to -5db, which is about how loud I turn up my receiver at home, using my tiny little yamaha satellite speakers, and I just didn't get that powerfull, room filling, incredibleness, that I have been told that speakers of this caliber provide. I tried them first with just the fronts, and center, and then tried them with a sub. The center was somewhat loud, a little sharp, and the towers were okay. I felt like if I turned it up more, the center would of been too sharp, and the rest of the sound would get lost. Please don't look at this as me dumping on klipsch, I'm not, I'm just confused. For speakers that are at least 10X the price of my current set up, and about 30X bigger, I just thought they would blow me away, even at a lower volume level. I truly feel that something must not have been right. In my mind, klipsch would not have the reputation, following, and abiltiy to charge prices that they do without the speakers being incredible. Is it possible the speakers were not set up right? Was I expecting to much? Will it be way different in my home? The speakers he has haven't been used very much. Will they improve greatly after the break in period? Please tell me that I'm just crazy, IDK. What am I missing? I really want to have a nice speaker set up, and Klipsch seems the way to go, I'm just worried that after spending all the money that my wife is pissed at me for spending, she'll say something to the effect of, "these sound the same as the small ones we had." I feel as though I will end up getting these anyway, because I can't believe that all the AMAZING stuff I've read and heard about these is wrong. Maybe it's just me.
  13. Just checked newegg. Rw 12d is $499 right now. To much for me right now. I've also read and have been told by speaker professionals, (installers and speaker store salesmen, not Best Buy) that even though the Klipsch speaker line is one of the finest out there, their quality in subs does not compare to their speakers. Considering I can get the pl200 new for $279, I think this is my best current option. I have to think it will be a drastic improvement over my yamaha, 8" 100w sub that came as part of a 5.1 speakers in a box set for $150 for all 6 pieces. If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll keep what I got, but it definitely doesn't make me FEEL anything when watching movies.
  14. @ skally, Considering I would only be getting one, does the bic hold up on it's own? You said you were running two. At any point were you just using one? Btw, my room is about 20x17ish, with 15 high ceiling. It's a room that opens to another but in an L formation. Viewing area it's about 15x10ish. I'm using for about 95% HT
  15. Grew up in Jersey, now in Cali. Still have family in Jersey though. How much for one of them? I'm trying to get the sub with the fronts since this is kind of a one shot purchase for awhile. Wife not to happy bout all this. Anyway, GO GIANTS! Btw, the sub I have now kinda sux
  16. Thanks subxero. You're always extremely helpful. Thing is, I just have a Yamaha rxv671 receiver, no power amp, and I will be using my speakers mostly for home theater and I want to hear and FEEL the explosions and bangs as much as I can financially provide.
  17. So I'm days away from purchasing my first klipsch speakers. I'm gonna get a pair of rf82IIl, and a rc 62II. I want to add a sub, and I'm not going to have the funds to buy a high end sub, ie SVS, velodyne etc. I came across th.e bic PL200. It gets real good reviews, for the price range, and I've had several different sales guys tel me it's a great sub . Keep in mind I'm currently using a Yamaha 8" 100w sub right now. I can get this sub for $279, new from sound distributors. Any experience/nowledge of this sub?
  18. The reason I ask about other options is because I still have about 13 days left in a 30 day return window. Don't want to miss an opportunity to set myself up better. Again,I thank you all for your advice. I have learned an incredible amount over the last couple Weeks
  19. So I've been doing a lot of reading and i'm now curious if my receiver is good enough for these speakers. Every day i'm inching closer to getting the 82s, and a rc 62. As mentioned earlier, I have a entry level Yamaha rxv61. I know about the mixed opinions with Yamaha, and their paring with klipsch, i'm just wondering of it can stand up with these speakers. I know it will not be the optimal situation, but getting these speakers will make it impossible for me to change receiver. The receiver cost me $400. I'm assuming there is no pre amp/power amp combo that would work in this price range, that would be better than what I currently have? I plan on using the klipsch's in the front and the little Yamaha speakers I have as surrounds, and the Yamaha sub until I can upgrade, so that's what I'll need to power. Would it be a waste to get a cheap power amp and use it with my receiver. I don't have the money right know to go and get a emotiva right now.
  20. Yeah, acoustic sound design is where I got my quote from. Good to know if I ask,I can get an additional 15% off. Thanks
  21. $1327 total for the 2 82s plus 1 rc 62II. Seems like a good deal
  22. Problem for me is that my wife doesn't ever see the need to buy anything we don't "need" Luxury items are something that she couldn't care less about. You should of seen my struggles to sell her on a flat screen TV years ago. She was completely fine with a 32" crt TV. As for shoes and purses she would probably just say she's fine with what she has. Its an uphill battle, but i'm digging my feet in and pushing forward. Wish me luck. I'n terms of the 62s vs 82s, prices I've been quoted online (yes, by authorized dealers) have had a minimal difference on price between the 2 so i'm planning on the 82s.
  23. New to this forum and loving it!!! Quick, extremely informative responses from the community. Glad to hear that the yamaha isn't some sort of "kryptonite" to the klipsch speakers. I'm very close to purchasing my first set, I just got freaked by what I read. I do plan to use this system mainly for movie/tv watching with some music listening mixed in (very little). So the issues with yamaha rec. don't seem like they will be a problem for me right now. I'm still in a 30 day return window on my yamaha, so I just wanted to be sure before I stuck with it. Off to convincing the wife that we need expensive speakers. Thank you everyone for your help
  24. Just curious, what kind of complaints? I currently own a Yamaha rx-v61 that I recently purchased, but I have yet to buy any klipsch speakers. (new to all this and still doing my research). I know my receiver is "entry level", but this its the first I've heard of problems with klipsch and Yamaha.
  25. The references to the rc-62, are they the rc-62 or the rc-62 II?
