  1. New questione! In the Type A the transformer is called T2A and in AK-3 it is T4A....They are not the same are they? I'm thinkin of getting some custom-made so do anyone have the values for these transformers? By the way have anyone tried comparing these x-overs? Thank you for informing a newbie like me! Rune
  2. Thank you guys! I'm going with only the best sounding components, and I'm coming back with a report on the result!! Take care! Rune
  3. Can I use a Type A x-over in a Khorn from year 2000? The reason I ask is that I'm thinkin' of buildin' the Type A,because I believe simple is better. And I understand that PWK also prefered the 1.order solution. But I think I have read that the A has x-over frequencies at 500 and 5k,is that correct? And the AK-3 has 400 and 6k? So does the A go with the drivers I have,or do I have to change the values on the type A to match todays drivers? I'm hoping someone could help me out here......
  4. My idea is to build a copy of the A or the AA type, with good component quality....."Less is more" Is it risky to try this?I don't think I can blow anything with my 18w tube amp.....,or?
  5. I have a pair of year 2000 Khorns with the AK-3 x-over. My question is:can I put in a Type A network without any further "rebuilding"? Do the Type A have the same crossover freq. as the AK-3? Rune
  6. Hi all you tweakers! Paul has made a great speaker and it has made me dance, smile and cry more than one time.....so thanx for that one! But I would really like to know some of the tweaks you guys have tried, working or not... My only tweak yet was to change internal wiring on one of my speakers, just so I could compare to the original.....and for me it was the right thing to do. I replaced it with a 2,5mm2 solid core copper cable that you can buy at any el-store.When I'm doin' it on the other speaker I'm gonna use maybe 4 or 6mm2.In my experience, solid core is less distorted and therefore more natural...and if you get distortion in you bettya get distortion OOUUTT! The next thing I'm gonna try is to dampen the horns, because I guess the best thing for a horn is to be none sounding,or? I'm gonna try with some stuff used in cars... Should I place it all over the horns or what, and what kind of material have you used? So I'm hoping all you tweakers could just pour out all your experience here!!!Please! Rune
  7. Can you please post the link? I don't know if Klipsch has voiced this speaker with the exsisting material as the best,or if it's a matter of cost...to make the horn out of wood would be a lot of work and very expensive. By the way,I just replaced the Monster cable on one of my Klipschorns with a simple cheap 2,5mm2 solid core copper cable, and it sounds clearer more coherent and open.... I have the deepest respect for the fantastic speaker Klipsch has made, but the component quality don't impress me.........and I know this is a cost question....I'm sure he can make it better if he get to use better components... Happy tweaking! Klipschorn is tha bomb!!
  8. Does the horns in mid and tweeter of the Klipschorns have any sound in itself?I don't know if you understand what I mean...does the material of the horn have influence on the sound? Let's say the horn is made of metal...would it sound more metallic(a)(I couldn't help it)? Maybe by making the horn out of wood one would get a warmer sound, eeh?
  9. I found out myself. It's 6 screws, and then take of the top plate....easy... I've now used solid core copper cable and I can tell the Monster smears out the sound. My Klipschorn now sound more coherent... Happy tweaking!! Rune
  10. I'm trying to change the wiring inside my Klipschhorn, and I don't know how to reach those on the tweeters. What's easiest way of doing this?
  11. I've recently got a new amp,and what a amp!!! It's RCA monoblocks with 2 KT66 each side, and it's made around 1960..It sounds so amazingly good that I have to wonder what the heck companies these days are doing..Are we going backwards? Play that funky music! Rune
  12. Thanx everybody for the replys! Keep on postin' em! Doesn't anybody from the Klipsch company read these sites?I would really like to know some of the amps they are using when developing Klipschhorn or Klipsch in general......I guess it could be interesting for all the happy people(Klpschowners) to know this..!? Play that funky music ....!
  13. Thank you everybody! I see a lot of people are using Macintosh on the horns with a good result.I love tube amps, but as the rock fan I am I often feel they are too slow in the bass. Please continue to write in your combination that your happy with! This speaker is tha bomb!Just look at the Klipschhorns 50+ history and it's easy to see it is doing something right. It's pretty sad to read about the latest reviews in the magazines saying this is the best they ever heard,me and you buying it and a month later we sell it...huu So thank you Klipsch for this speaker! Do anybody know what amplifiers Klipsch uses or have used to develop these beauties? Have anybody tried old Marantzs or Luxmans? Enjoy! Rune
  14. I got them new from dealer yes. I feel I have focus on the s sounds regardless of source. I love the way the speaker can create the illusion of a drum kit. Do anybody have a combination that really get them kickin'?Please write me what system you have.. Rune
  15. I have used different set-ups. Amps: Audio Note kit one VTL stereo 90 Lavardin IS NAD 302 Preamps: Audio preamp kit Electrocompaniet EC-3 CD: Audio Note CDT1 and DAC kit 1.1X Meridian 506 NAD 502 LP: Audio Note TT2 with IQ3 The best result i got with the VTL and NAD
  16. I've tried many different sources and it seems like it's the same.Because of my work,I've only used the speakers for about 5 or 6 months.Could it be they need more time breakin in? Do anybody have a real good rock'n'roll combination for these speakers please let me know?! Rune
  17. My Klipschhorns are only about 6 months old,and it's the closest thing too real music I've ever heard from any speaker,but...those s sounds are hurting my ears. Could it be they requiere a longer period of breakin in?I guess Paul has modified these babies a couple of times so I dont know if thats the way to go.In my experience solid-core is the best speaker cable,so can that free me from some of the harshness I here,or other modifications? Please give me some respons you guys who've had these great speaker for some years!
  18. I've had my Klipschhorns for almost a year now,and allthough it's the funniest speaker i've listened too it spits those "s" sounds at me.I know it reveals all the bad sides of an amp,cd-player etc. So basicly I wanna know what kind of amps and other equipment you are using with these speakers. I have tried Audio Note kit one and VTL stereo 90 on them, but right now I'm using a NAD302!! and it's killin' man.Deep Purple and Led Zep gets that fat rich lively sound that I like so much without getting too harsh.
