  1. Allright, I'll try this. Thanks for the responses.
  2. Hey guys, sorry to make this thread I'm sure this crossover frequency thing has been talked about lots of times but I really need you guys's help. I recently bought new klipsch speaker's; RB-61 II (LR) - 45Hz-24KHz ± 3dB RC-62 II (Center) - 57Hz-24KHz ± 3dB RB-51 II's (for Surrounds) - 50Hz-24KHz ± 3dB I got the RW-10d for a sub. --- My receiver (Pioneer) gives me the option of 50hz, 80hz and 100 (or 120hz cant remember). For those speakers, which one should I choose? I know THX recommends 80hz and setting the speakers to small, but setting the speakers to small takes the power and punch from the speakers. What do you guys think? Set the speakers to small or large? I think I prefer to put them on large myself though. And considering the speakers I got and the range's, which crossover frequency should I set it to? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.
  3. Just a quick update about my speakers. I have decided to switch my RB-51 II fronts to RB-61 II. The company I bought it from have a 2 week return policy so this wasn't a problem. I am gonna pair the RB-61 II's up with the RC-52 II's. Anyone have experience with this setup? I am gonna try it for a while, and if I'm not happy I'll upgrade the center to the RC-62 II's. I am using RB-51 II's as my surrounds for my 5.1 setup.
  4. I live in Holland so I cant order it from Mike. Even if the speakers were cheaper than here in Holland, There would be transport as well as import fee's that would end up more expensive for me. The RC-52 can be paired with the RB-61's, but if I decide to upgrade in the future; all I'll have to do is replace the center and buy new fronts. And move around my current fronts to the back and I'll be set.
  5. I know about the rear ports. I should be good with the speaker placement. I didn't listen to them side by side, but how huge a difference would there be though? The tweeter is the same so the high ranges should be on the same level. The differences should be in the mid and low ranges and I imagine the RB-61's have more bass and sensitivity. I currently have the RC-52 II in pocession and installed it. It sounds really good to me and according to the specs the RB-51's are able to go lower than the RC-52 (RC-52 - 67hz, RC-51 - 50hz). I wasn't really able to test the center out properly though, because it only seems to do dialogue. But when I do get music etc out from the center, I am hearing sounds I never heard before with my old speakers. In other words the speaker is performing really well, and I am expecting the same performance from the RB-51 II's. However I can't deny that I am still on the fence between the RB-61's and RB-51's for the front's though. Currently I am leaning more towards the RB-51 side, because of the whole tweeter hieght thing. I am just not able to convince myself that a higher positioned tweeter is also fine. Have you listened to these speakers side by side? Is the difference really that huge?
  6. I have changed my order from the RB-61 II's to the RB-51 II speakers. I have decided to go with the RB-51's for now, if I decide to expand to a 7.1 in the future, I'll use these 51's as back surrounds and buy new fronts. Thanks for your time guys.
  7. Hello guys, I recently bought the RB-61 II's and I plan on placing these speakers on speaker stands. The speaker stands I got are pretty high though. They are 80 centimeters (31.4 inch's) and the speakers themselves are 39.1cm (15.4 inch). So the total hight is gonna be 119 cm (46.8 inch). The tweeter of this speaker is pretty high on the speaker, which means it will be a little above ear level of where I am seated. My sitting height is varyable between 100cm/39.37" and 110cm/43.3"s. Is the positioning of the tweeter gonna be problematic? I am sitting 3.1 meters/10 feet far from the speakers. Thanks for the responses
  8. Thanks for the reply's guys. I can't help but wonder though, is there a difference in sound when the grills are on or off?
  9. Hey guys, I plan on buying the RC-62 II center, RB-61 II fronts and RB-51 II as surrounds. Which subwoofer would you guys recommend? Recommend sub's from the older range please. The new range isn't exactly widely available in Holland yet. I personally was thinking of buying this one: Klipsch RW-10d. Do you guys think that is a good choice? I also had another question about the grills on the speakers. Would you guys recommend to keep the grills on or off? If I take them off, will dust etc. be a problem? Like damage the speakers or whatever? Do you guys keep the grills on or off? Thanks for your time guys
  10. Are the II's mixable with the older gen speakers? For instance, can you use a RC-62 II with the RB-61's? And RB-61's with RB-51 II as surrounds? Or the other way around? Thanks
  11. I have a question about the RB-61's dual binding posts. I only plan on using a single wire, I'm not gonna bi-wire the speakers. I won't do the speakers any injustice if I don't bi-wire right?
  12. I'll try and figure out how much distance is needed for the RB-51 from the wall. In my case though, the RB-51's rear won't be facing a wall, but one of them will be pretty close to window blinds. Is the RC-62 not a good match for the RF-52's? I highly doubt I will get the RF-62's. I think those are out of my league when it comes to power and what I demand from my speakers. Plus I dont have enough room in the back of the speakers, and the Bass reflex opening is probably even bigger than those of the RF-52's, which will probably require even more space from the wall compared to the RF-52's.
  13. I will most likely go with RB-51's for surrounds then. The reason I wanted to get RB-61 was so that I would have the same speakers all the way around except for the center. But I have changed my mind about that now, since you guys recommended to do it this way. But now, I don't know if I should buy the RB-61 or the RF-52's. If I go with the RF-52's, it's cheaper for me, because I dont have to buy speaker stands for it. And I suspect the RF-52's produce better sounds then the RB-61? Correct me if I'm wrong on this please. But with floor standing speakers, I need plenty of room in the back from the wall right? For that Bass hole in the back? For my front right speaker, it is only about 10 cm's (3.9 inches) from the wall. I could make it about 15 cm's (5.9 inches) if I move some stuff around. The speaker's back to the wall will be at an angle (the Bass reflex hole will be facing the wall at an angle). What would you guys recommend me in my situation? RB-61's or RF-52's for the front surrounds? Thank you Edit: I corrected the RF-51's to RF-52's
  14. Thanks for the reply's guys, much apreciated. I am from Europe (Holland), so I dont think I can buy the speakers from Mike, but I'll look into it. The RC-62 speakers are 150 watts, while my receiver only does 110 watt per channel. I am not too worried about connecting speakers that are less than 110 watt. But I have read somewhere that it's not good for speakers if you underpower them. Isn't that what will happen if I use a 150 watt speaker on a 110 watt receiver? Edit: I use the receiver at night alot as well, and I put the volume really low, so I wont disturb any neighbours etc. Won't I underpower the speakers in this way? And yeah, I am new to Klipsch speakers. I currently use a Pioneer set of speakers, that I had bought as a set (because of the price), and those speakers don't do the receiver I got any justice. I have read great many things about Klipsch, so I can't wait till I purchase them and set them up. It will be in the coming weeks I hope. I am also interested in buying the B-tech BT606 speaker stands. I hope I wont have any compatibility issues between the stands and the RB-61's. What I plan to do is buy 2 pairs of RB-61's, and use them as both my front speakers as well as my surround speakers. My surrounds are only 1.1 meters (about 3.6 feet) away from my listening position though. Is it in my case wise to use RB-61's as surround speakers? I use a 5.1 setup.
  15. Hello all, I am new to this forum, so I am really sorry if this question was asked before. I am interested in buying either the RB-61 (100 watt) or RB-51 (75 watt) speakers. I am leaning more towards the RB-61's though. And I am looking for a matching center speaker. What would you guys recommend? The center speakers that are most the match (that I was able to find) are the RC-52 (125 watt) and the RC-42 (75 watt). I think RC-52's are a good match for the RB-61's? But if I would go with the RB-51 speakers, is the RC-52 (125) a good match? Or it the RC-42 (75 watt) a better match? -- I also have a concern with my receiver. My receiver is a Pioneer VSX-LX50 and it does 110 watts per channel. Will that cause problems if I connect the 125 watt RC-52 center channel speaker? Thank you guys for the help
