  1. I was actually considering the System 6, but because of my current space limitations I am going to mount the fronts up in the corners of the wall / ceiling like the surrounds. I didn't think I would be able to do that with the larger bookshelf speakers, but if anyone has any experience with this let me know. Thanks for the advise on the remote, I haven't bought it yet. So far I've only ordered the RX-V620 from Etronics.com for $359. Have you seen the Phillips Remote on a web site ?
  2. After much deliberation, I think I have finally decided on the equipment for my first ever HT. Yamaha RX-V620 Receiver Yamaha DVD-S520 DVD Player Klipsch Quintet System with KSW-12 Sub Home Theater Master SL-9000 Universal Learning Remote I 'm going with the Quintets for now because of space limitations until I get some re-modeling finished. I decided on the KSW-12 instead of the 10 so that I would already be prepaed for upgrading to larger Klipschs. I know this desn't sound like much compared to what most of you guys have, but this is coming from a guy that was looking at the all-in-one HT in a box set-ups just three weeks ago. What do you guys think ? Do you think the KSW-12 will be too overpowering for the Quintets ? I look forward to becoming a member of he Klipsch Family and soon upgrading to some of their "real" speakers - I've been lstening to many, and they are awesome ! This is also a great BB, and maybe one day I can help out some of you guys. This message has been edited by Hagood on 10-31-2001 at 10:48 PM
  3. Hey Deam, take a deep breath and calm down !! There are more important things to get worked-up over.
  4. Ok, so I'm a rookie. I've been reading all of the posts about bi-wiring, but how do you do it ?? Would the Synergy System 6 speakers benifit from it, or is it mostly for the bigger speakers ? I appreciate all of you guy's help and patience with allot of stupid questions from a rookie.
  5. Thanks guys. I checked out Radio Shack, and they even have an adapter that will convert both composite audio and video to S-Video and Digital Optical Audio for $49.00 ! I can use it for the Cable Box and VCR. This solves all my problems !
  6. How important is it to have the front speakers at the same height as the TV and center speaker. With my room arrangement, I need to put them up in the corners of the wall/ceiling on both sides of the TV. They would be at the same height as the rears, about 8' high. How do you think this would work for HT as well as music ?
  7. So, how do you think the Synergy System 6 compares ?
  8. I am getting ready to purchase my first Home Theater set-up, and am a little confused on a few issues. First, my Digital cable box does not have an S-Video output, nor my VCR. I wanted to run everything into the receiver and use it for switching, but I need to hook up the receiver to the TV with S-Video to use the on-screen set-up menu. From what I understand If I connect to the TV via S-Video, everything else will need to be connected to the receiver the same way. I definitely want to connect the DVD to the receiver using S-Video and digital optical, but what can I do about the other components ??
  9. Thanks Ears. Ae you referring to the Synergy System 6 ? I looked at these and was concerned because the specs say they can only handle 50 watts max continuous. I haven't had a chance to listen to them.
  10. I am a newbie at Home Theater, and was originally looking at the Quintet Microsystem to go with a Yamaha RX-V620. I have read quite a few bad reviews on the net, so I started looking at other options. One that I have listened to, and also see hardly any negaitive reviews on, is the Definitive Pro Cinema 80. It did sound a little fuller than the Quintets, but at $200.00 more I'm not sure. Now I know since this is a Klipsch site you guys will be a little biased, but I'm wondering if anyone has compared these ? This message has been edited by Hagood on 10-28-2001 at 01:18 AM
