  1. Children, children. Many valid points were made in this thread, but it is time to put this one to bed. Sooo much of what you folks are talking/raving/whining/pontificating/preaching about (take you pick for whomever) is subjective, and where measurable, it is seldom if ever worth the money charged. (There are certainly exceptions.)Unless it is worth it to the buyer. A fool and his money... ??? Look, if Aston Martin wants to charge $240,000 for their new car, fine, someone will buy one, and it will get them to the store for milk a microsecond faster than you. For $240K they also get to waddle in hog-heaven because they went to the store in an Aston Martin and you didn't. ::shrug:: MAYBE, their milk will taste a bit better, sweeter, milkier, maybe not. That is relative too. Same milk, different perception. My brother wouldn't know a cross-over from a cross-dresser. One should not take something along the line of a home theatre or stereo system and begin to measure it in Yugos, Civics, or Preludes. Come on people, this is cost of some peoples homes. Don't get me wrong, I have put a lot of time, dollars, and personal sweat and pride into my systems over the years, but it is all subjective and relative. These boards are so useful when they help people. They are not very useful when they push them away or inhibit / intimidate others from contributing or asking for help. People solicit opinions. Most of us are free with our advice and experience, but not at the expense of the other person. Besides, everyone knows that Krell sucks. Sorry, could not resist. They indeed make a great Amp. Just lighten up out there! 3. quote: Originally posted by ss7380: Ray, The sound is not distorted or unnatural, it is just uncomfortable to my ears. I have tried several different receivers (Onkyo,Yamaha, etc.) with the same results. This only occurs on certain types of music where highs are accentuated. Other types of music sounds great. Thanks in advance. I found this to be the case also when I auditioned my RF-7 in the showroom. In my home environment they sound much more domesticated. I suspect you may have a lot of reflective surfaces? Hardwood floors? Brick wall? Tile? Short nap carpeting? Glass? My environment is a bit more forgiving with absorbant materials around them, and they sit in corners on a shorter wall as sentries to a big box TV, on modest pile carpet. Of course mine are ON the floor, and I am sure that makes a diference. I just recall almost passing on the RF horns because they hurt my ears in the sound room. I have not experienced that in my home environment in any music genre except maybe a strident whiny female vocalist. Klipsch horns ARE unique in there timbre and may not be for YOU. ------------------ WS-65908 Mits RPTV Klipsch RF7 Klipsch RC7 Phase Tech PC-1000 B&W 601 Yamaha DSP-1 Nakamichi TA-4 Kenwood Sovereign 5900M -Prog. scan changer Velodyne Sub
  4. Thank you gentlemen. Good advice. I had initially been auditioning the B&W CDM-9. An awesome, though overpriced, speaker with excellent clarity, color and accuracy. At least to my sonic tastes. B&W is sadly, however, one of the least effcient speakers out there, so when contrasted with the RF7s, well, it was not a pretty sight. I prefer the exuberance, flexability, and slam of the RF7. Anyway, for the time being, I am using my PhaseTech PC-1000s and placement will be such - at times - where the rear channel will be almost equidistant from the listener as the mains. This is a room limitation. I can move them to poratable stands for serious movie events. They (the PC-1000s) will be used as the B channel for a Quadraphonic-esque type of experience. My Phase Tech PC-50 Satelites and PC-60 passive sub will be my primary surround sound speakers, and will sit atop the PC-1000 towers. 5. Thanks Phil, I know for a fact it is a problem on the 55/65 Mits TV frames. Perhaps other brands, but likely prevalent on the wider sets that have less/no support across the back edge. Your comment on the rattle/buzz of the glass is well taken. Especially if I were to use the angle screw on the RC-7. I think I need to get it soon as the more the top surface sags/warps (if it does), the more likely a buzz may occur. Overall I chose glass as a potential solution because it will be pretty heavy and less likely to vibrate. I ruled out Lucite for that reason. So far I am VERY impressed with the RF-7. They, of course, sound much different than in the sound room at the dealer. A tad less brassy on the highs and richer in the midrange. Can't wait for the break-in time to be over.. Guess I am at about 25 hours at this point. Seems like a pretty nice forum around here. Hope I can be of help to some of the local folk down the road. 6. I could use some advice on the efficiency measurement process. I am using the RF-7s and RC-7 as front mains and center. I have another set of towers that I would like to use as rear surrounds, but they seem a little overwhelmed at times. I have yet to calibrate them with Avia, but would like to compare their decibel/power efficiency to the RF-7s. How would YOU proceed to do this? 7. This may not be the best section for this, but thought it might catch the best cross-section of this forum. First of all. ::Waving:: Hello everybody - just joined. I just bought a pair of RF-7 and a RC-7 to go with a Mitsubishi 65908 RPTV I purchased last week. I am VERY concerned over reports of the TV sagging due to the added weight of a Center such as the RC-7. Has anyone else had/addressed this issue? What solutions have you found or tried? I am considering having a piece of glass cut to fit to distribute the weight onto the TV's frame.
