  1. The Videologic Sirocco Crossfire is a 4.1 system less than $500. The Videologic DTS DigiTheatre is NOT a gaming system. They do not have >2 channel inputs. The Videologic DTS DigiTheatre is for DVD movie playback ONLY. It can do 2 channel - but why pay the extra money? You are paying a premium for Videologic speakers because they are imported from England. They are better. Their electrical contacts are all gold plated for one thing. For shootouts go to 3Dsoundsurge.com One reviewer bought the Sirocco Pros (a $900 2.1 system) after receiving a free set for a review. There are 2 reviewers for that web site. One German and one Cannuck. They are substantially more knowledgable than anyone else out there.
  2. The only reason to use Virtual 5.1 is to generate 5.1 channels of output from a stereo source. It's very simple: the rear outputs are copies of the front, the center is a combined copy of the front L/R and the subwoofer is a combined copy of the fiver other channels. Virtual = not real = fake = crap If you have PowerDVD or WinDVD you can decode DD to 4 channels.
  3. I am currently suffering with the Altec Lansing ADA890s. Your sympathy is much appreciated. I am considering replacing them with the ProMedia 4.1s but it seams the system has overheating problems. One guy says he is on his 5th set. There will always be defective units, but those of you with heating problems - how loud and for how long are you driving your system?
