  1. Also if I turn the sub off and turn the bass knob wide open they will thump so i figure the woofers are working.
  2. Budman, they do work and I did ohm them out, they read 2.5-2.7 ohms each so that would mean they are ok then right?
  3. Pzannucci not A+B, left front and left rear parallel when facing k-horns.Sounds awesome.
  4. I have played only the k-horns by themselves and also omitted the sub still not much bottom end. I purchased the speakers from the original owner about 8 months ago, they were 100% original,I did update the tweeters and caps (crites). The guy i purchased them from has passed on ha was a bachelor. So don't know a lot of history about them other than they are in awesome cosmetic condition and appears that he was fairly fussy. He powered them with a NAD receiver thats about all I know about his set-up. BTW my room size is small 16x16. The reason I am running them in parallel is because I dig the sound it produces. I sit in the middle of the room and all four speakers are toed at 45 degrees. The Heresy's do what they are designed to do. Fill in. Hope this helps describe my situation. Thanks. P.S. maybe the room is just too friggin small and I can't let them open up!
  5. I did some more experimenting with my set-up on the receiver. If I set the receiver to "sub only" or "main only" it sounds the same whereas if its set to "both" I get bass. I don't get it! Anyone else think it could be the receiver?
  6. If it weren't for the sub I would not have any bottom end, its like listening to "big sounding" Heresy's!All the bass is going to the sub for some reason. As i stated before the highs and mids are amazing!Im thinking about trying a different receiver. Any thoughts. I should note is predominately the sub producing the bass. Maybe thats just the way it is!
  7. Yes I did update caps on crossovers (crites) 6 mo. ago. re-checked ohm reading, got 2.5 on each one. The speakers are 1980. Receiver is set to 'large'for speaker size.
  8. Ok I will check but pretty sure it is set up this way. Thanks will let you know. And yes I do run a sub.For some reason I just don't think this is the correct receiver for this application. JMO.
  9. I did check everything multiple times on electronics and wiring on speakers. Appears to be a furniture placement. So as long as my speakers are working ok I will have to deal with furniture placement. My set-up is K-horns wired in parallel with a pair of Heresy in the rear. 2.1 stereo.
  10. If woofers are non-working they would not show any reading on a ohm meter is that correct? They either work or they don't? Also noticed that removing the couch between speakers made a difference. Thanks
  11. Have heard from some that K-horns can be sensitive to some amps/receivers. will the Sansui produce more bass?
  12. I guess I was just thinking the receiver is a P.O.S.
  13. They are snugly fit into corners with 10 ft walls on all sides. So you don't suspect any issues with the speakers do you, like drivers not functioning? I have heard and read that it would hard to damage them.
  14. That is what I thought as well, I did check the woofer drivers and they are both showing 6 ohms.I believe that is the correct rating.I also having them sitting on one inch pads because they are on a tiled floor, I can't imagine that should matter.
  15. Hello everyone, wondering if a Yamaha 5150 home theater receiver is too poor of a receiver to push the bottom end of K-horns? The bass is almost non-existent. The highs and mids are good. I am waiting to pick up a Sansui 9090 just haven't got it yet. Also would length of speaker lead have a direct bearing on this issue? It is 16 ga. approx 35 ft. P.S. I understand this receiver is way less than ideal but just want to see if this is what is causing poor bass response. Thanks
  16. Ok I think I'll spring for the 9090. Ithink it makes more sense and power! 400 a good deal or just ok? Aa I said, it has never been serviced if that matters. Thanks.
  17. Just wanted to ask you vintage loving folk which brand would be a better match with these speakers,Marantz or Sansui? Also what can I expect to have to pay to have these vintage pieces serviced/updated?
  18. Update: I have learned that he is also selling a AU9500 integrated amp. Any thoughts or opinions on going that route instead. I realize I would be losing out on the tuner section but with that aside would either piece perform equally or would one be better than the other. Thanks again. Btw 400 for it as well and i forgot to mention earlier they both have wood cases if that matters.
  19. Ok, yeah I planned on taking a pair of my Heresy's with me to audition. Also he is telling me its in very nice cond. Hasn't used in a couple years.
  20. Ok will do,thanks for your time and advice. Also will it need to be serviced before I ever use it? i.e. caps and such.
  21. Ok will do.Would anyone care to say what a good value would be for purchase? Also should i skip the 2220? And lastly when auditioning what should I look or listen for imperfection wise?
  22. Fortunately I am able to demo both pieces.I would like a Marantz receiver but maybe this is not "the one'. Will probably score the Sansui for sure but being he has both was trying to score both, but if 2220 isn't going to be enough power will proly pass on it.
  23. Also is there any buyer beware issues with these receivers? Sorry just not that familiar with vintage gear. I have read that it makes them more desirable if they have been serviced.
