  1. Just scored a pair of Klipsch La Scala speakers. Traded a Sony XA20ES CD player for them. The school my son attends wanted to get rid of them. The unfinished cabinets are in ok shape, some nicks here and there. They have been in storage for at least 4 years. I currently have Aerial 10T, Magnapan 1.6 and Acoustat 1+1 speakers, so Im very new to horn speakers. The information on the back of the speaker is as follows: Type LS-BR with serial # 22T157 and 22T158 Woofer K-55-V serial # 169217 and 169218 Tweeter H-77 It says Type-AA on the crossover I know the speaker was manufactured in 1979 based on the serial numbers but what else does the various information tell me? Are there any precautions/tests I should take before I hook them up? How will I know if the woofer or tweeter are functioning correctly? Is there a potential of causing damage to the speakers if I drive them with 220 watt tube mono blocks amps? (just to check them out, if I keep them I would purchase some flea watt power amps) Looking forward to hooking them up, but its a little scary, like having a newborn baby in the house for the first time.
  2. I may have the opportunity to purchase a pair of used Klipsch La Scala speakers from the school my son attends. They seem to be in very good condition. The cabinet is unpainted, and supposedly the speakers have been very well cared for. Since I will not be able to listen to them before I purchase , what should I check for? Also, what can you tell me about this speaker based on the following information my son copied from the horn and the cabinet: Horn Info: WK K55V 168218 Cabinet Info: TYPE LS-BR 22T158 Balancing Network Info: 8 and 7 Tweeter Input 6 and 5 Squawker Input 4 and 3 Woofer Input 2 and 1 Input Type-AA
