  1. I'm almost done with one of the two speakers. Should be finished by tomorrow. I removed the klipsch sticker to sand and stain. What kind of glue is recommended for putting this back on?
  2. I doubt I will have the same problem when I do the rest of the job. But just in case I do I'd like to have a plan. Where I went wrong was I should of waited a couple days to do that third coat. the stain was sticking a bit more than I'd of liked partially because I was interrupted and the stain sat a a few minutes longer than planned and was not able to wipe off in time to avoid the "sticky" feel
  3. I got the desired darkness. I'm interested in tips to dull the gloss a bit and also smooth out the slight stickiness. Any ideas?
  4. I'm easily confused lol. Gotta be careful with me haha..
  5. It is the bottom that you see. Using that as my test board. I actually didn't do much sanding on the bottom board. Does it look like I sanded too much?
  6. So I'm still in the testing stage. I've just applied a second coat of my stain and it's almost as dark as I'd like. I will do a third coat and hopefully it will be just right.
  7. I am testing the color now. I am not following direction. I am putting a small amount of stain on and wiping clean so that I can start light and get it to the desired color. I'm using the bottom board for my test. Also something I learned today that you guys may know, vegetable oil takes the wood stain off of skin in seconds. I learned this after spending a half hour of washing with soap =)
  8. I purchased this today. I think this will hide some flaws in the wood and go with my dark furniture.
  9. As you can see I have some deep stains in the wood. This is after a few minutes of sanding.
  10. Thanks eth2. I do not want to rush this project as I am hoping for a good result. I've learned from many mistakes that faster never is better lol. I've been reading through a bunch of threads gathering a lot of info. I wish I would of found a group like this for some of my other projects that turned into nightmares lol
  11. That is very nice tarheel. Nice floors also =)
  12. So much information =). You people are very cool. I will post pictures of them once I'm done. A lot to think about and now I'm more undecided on which way to go with these =)
