  1. Actually analog bypass does sound really funny when you think about it. How can you bypass analog? Lol. It should say digital bypass
  2. Yeah exactly. No processing. My previous receiver had no such thing. Haha. Yes. Much better than white can speakers. Although to be completely honest they're really not that bad.
  3. Yeah analog bypass is pretty basic. My receiver is new so still figuring out ask the settings. Thought stereo bypassed but gotta be set instead. So stoked. They are indeed everything that everyone says. Thanks for the help guys.
  4. Well Let me be the first one to say..........wooohooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I found the problem.....and I feel like an idiot lol. Had the receiver on stereo, not analog bypass. What a difference. These things are as awesome as everyone says. Oh yeah!!!! Thanks for the help guys. I knew something had to be wrong. Glorious. Listening to a little Bruce Hornsby right now. So good. I'm thrilled
  5. I warned you guys . I'll let ya know how the tear down goes tonight. I'm guessing I will find absolutely nothing, but after 12 years or so who knows what the previous owners did with them or to them. I'll find out.
  6. Haha. I know. If the finish was brand new I would've left them, but pretty scratched up so they're black now. They're here to stay, not selling them.
  7. Like I said I didn't have a very good listen when I picked them up. Very low volume, I turned them up enough to make sure there was nothing blown. I had the little man with me so had to be quick. So I certainly wouldn't say I gave them a proper demo. Yes absolutely. When I get home the troubleshooting/hopefulness will begin. If everything appears in order, I guess all I can do is relegate them to HT duty only. Music will be a different setup. Hate to do that though. Also both sets of drivers and tweeters/horns look great. No dings, dents or scratches, Can't say the same for the cabinets. They had some pretty good scuffs and what not on them. (Warning the following will make some people cringe) I painted them satin black as soon as I got home for the WAF factor . Cherry is a no go, especially since they had the scratches. Anyone know how the serial numbers work on them? I'll have to check when I get home but I believe the first two numbers are 02
  8. Yeah I agree. Yes set to large on my nad748. Direct to receiver and direct bypass on the receiver. Isn't phase just polarity? If so yeah they're connected correctly.
  9. I'm gonna go home and remove the crossover and woofers and make sure everything is wired correctly. The guy I bought them from says he bought them from the original owner, so I think a look over of the wiring is in order. Since they both sound identical in guessing they're both at least wired identical, right or wrong.
  10. Nope totally understand. I am a big headphone guy, and to an extent I think my t1s spoil me, but music is much more important to me than home theatre. The rfs sound awesome for movies. Just not so much for music. My pops has an old set of m&k's with there big sub and that setup makes me envious. It sounds amazing. In the end I should've have them a much better listen at pickup. Had the little one with me so I rushed it. Gonna go home tonight and give them a solid workout and see if I can convince myself I like them for music too
  11. Lol. Yeah they're positioned properly. Could be the temporal sonic displacement.
  12. Thanks guys. Yeah they're both working. All drivers and tweeters are working properly. Unless both crossovers are screwy which I doubt because they both sound identical. My wife even commented as soon as she heard them that they didn't sound good. She said sounds like they're (the singer's) far away lol. So these might just be my new movie speakers. I'll have to pull the crossovers and give them a look just out of my curiosity. Thanks everyone
  13. They're being fed by a nad478v2 . I am trying to eq them but it's not enough. Running thru an old audiosource eq from my Bluetooth receiver fed from my phone. Of course it will be compressed by the Bluetooth but it wasn't an issue with my other speakers. I suspect I just may not be a huge fan of these for music. All drivers are working properly, first thing I checked. They're in a 20x18 room, carpeted. No special room treatments. A shame because it looks like by and large everyone seems to give these great reviews.
