woke up today and my Samsung TV had a NEW OS that updated overnite - version 387.92X. well, ok. i went to use the remote and got confused. it looks like they changed the word "channel" to "entertainment opportunity" and in place of the time on the grid, they have the picture of a sundial. weirdly, they list isn't arranged by channel, or entertainment opportunity, but its sorted by most popular shows of my neightbors! the old "menu" is now called the "change selector." i couldn't find the volume because they changed it to "sonic air preswsure." all i wanted to do was watch jim cramer and have some coffee. in place of the name of shows, they had line drawings of the main character on the show. i finally played with the new OS enough to find the TV PROGRAM I was looking for and got it "loaded" to view. Dang! the program itself didn't look one bit different than it did yesterday on OS version 387.92J!
then i woke up from the dream. it was a nightmare.

I mostly use application software on a PC. I don't have much interest in the os. Playing with os is a time sink I hate. My apps don't run any different with 8.1 or 8 or 7 or XP or 95. All that happens is the os makes me waste a lot of time changing, fixing, updating it. If you listen to microsofties they would have you believe the purpose of owing a PC is plying with the OS. Imagine if you bought a new hot car and had to change and play with the OS constantly instead of driving the car? Or constantly change os in your TV? Giant nuisance to me. The fact that OS needs so much attention is a judge of the poor quality of the design.

I'm still waiting on my new choruses.... Should be here soon!! So I'm just reading all this stuff.
I like this idea that testing can decide what is best speakers!! Them I figured if that works we could use it to determine the best tv and best car too!

Hope all works out for you coyote man! Alz is a terrible disease. Hard on families.
Alz affects many many people. I want to be was out front of that one. The worst idea in my mind is to be trapped in dementia for 20 years not knowing my family. I won't let that happen. If I got that DX I will end life before the dementia wins. I will never ever be the guy where my family says "he doesn't even recognize us." That's too much hurt to put on someone. Time is up? Time is up! Go with grace!

thin blue line?

OK, so on any acusation of wrong doing, the union cops have negotiated the benefit of the doubt as a vacation?
-
Is that two different pair? ¿?

to make it much worse on people who get hacked, these 3 credit agencies have the response time of turtles. i've heard stories that it can take a year for even a simple correction to be made.
-
so, when a cop is involved in a shooting that has questions, it's better for him to be "on vacation" than to be in the office filing papers, or answering the phone?
-
everyone using a smart phone is easily hacked. thousands of apps are nothing but trojan horses to send data back to a server. smart phones are hand held broadcasting devices scooping up your most personal information and your location and sending it out every few minutes. most of it is not harmful, but some is if you get unlcuky.

wow---too bad this is totally illegal. http://www.instructables.com/id/RF-Jammer/
if it were legal, it would be a good drone defense over your house. turn it on, leve it!!! but of course, that would not be legal. drones can sly on you, but you have no legal means of getting them down?? LOL!!!

i don't like the idea they get vacations, even when called admin leave. its a vacation with pay. often tax money. I never hear of private employees getting admin leave, always public workers on my nickel.
what would I prefer? "Joe, you are reassigned to cleaning the floors and bathrooms each day during your shift."

For general news, aggregated, I like
Google News Reader
Flipboard
The Week, in the print edition.
For magazines, and websires I read:
The Economist
Foriegn Affairs
Harvard Political Review
National Review
The Atlantic
I have been extremely interested in the media, on the "media". I just subscribed to the Journal of Media Psychology to try to get a better understanding on that subject.

usually, paid administrative leave, is provided to people who are suspected of wrongdoing or crimes. something feels backwards about this.

news is a loose term...i think..if my electric rate is going up..wow that is big newes. i need to no about it. if some goverment guy "says something"...i call that gossip...like who cares.... not me for sure..on tv and web most of what is called news looks more like gossip to me.siome of it is fun, but it could all be made up and i wouldn't know the difference. ...i read a story once by a reporter from national inquirer who said they all sat around and just made stuff up on the fly..you know..elvis has a secret wife.. and so on. if a government guy blabs no one can verify it,... and it's just as useful as gossip. almost all of what is called news is just the blabbing of goverment guys and gals.
point a camera anywhere to collect news. if you live in hollywood or washington or new york you might capture a known person gabbing...this is news!!! 10 million people blabbing endlessly is news. just pick the blabbing you like. pick one that has the same idea you have!!
my answer: your local paper
