    HT Process

    Photos of my Mini HT
  2. So first off, wife is ready to kill me, lol! My small room has gone through multiple changes. From 2ch, to a mini HT setup. I recently acquired a Toshiba TDP-MT200 DLP projector. Yes, it’s older, but was well regarded in the day. So I’m going to give it a try … even in my small room . Why not . So the setup is: Visual: Toshiba TDP-MT200 DLP Projector DIY Projector Screen / Epson Fabric (building now) Sony BD Player Apple TV Mac Mini (Media Server) Sound: Sony STR-DA5ES A/V Receiver Klipsch RSX5 Speakers Klipsch RCX4 Center Speaker Atlantic Technology 262 Subwoofer I’m building the screen now. Because of the room size, it’s not that large, but better than my old 32” TV. The pictures show the frame, and I will be covering it with Epson screen material from another screen that I have. I plan to shelf mount the projector on the back wall, and place the components on a stand next to my chair. I was doing some testing when the photos were taken. It’s going to be a bit difficult, because of room size, to have my recliner perfectly centered in front of the screen, but I’ll do my best. I also just mounted the surrounds, so my plan is to finish the screen and do some wiring tomorrow. Pics coming Soon (was over bandwidth limit)
  3. Thanks for the great responses! Love this forum. I'm going to stick with the Sony for now, until funds allow for a major upgrade.
  4. Been out of the game for awhile … you can read my other post here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/161388-new-member-…-needs-some-help-please-pics/ My question is: What Receiver Should I Use? I have both of these in my house right now. Again, I’m new. They are (5.1): 1. Sony STR DA5ES (this is what is hooked up now) 2. Yamaha HTR-3063 The rest of my system: Sharp 1080p 32” LED TV Sony BD Player Apple TV Mac Mini (Media Server) Klipsch RSX5 Speakers Klipsch RCX4 Center Speaker Atlantic Technology 262 Subwoofer Opinions?
  5. Made some changes this evening. Moved the desk, made room for the seating, and planned where the surrounds will go. My wife decided that they will be placed up higher in the corners, aimed down Working on the "curtains" now with her. Anyone have any other suggestions? Pics:
  6. Okay, I understand. The surrounds are also RSX-5's. They can be wall mounted and they can tilt in all directions too. So if I parallel mount them, where would the surround go in this picture, given the fly-fishing desk is here:
  7. Some excellent ideas, and thanks for the welcome! Yes, I will be cleaning up the room today (rainy day here). I can move the desk with the computer under the large window, not a problem. Should the surrounds be at ear level, or should I mount them higher up, and aim them down? The love seat will be very close to the fly-fishing desk (the desk with the child-lock) ... actually making the bottom drawers unusable. Yes I have a 4 yr. old son. Worse is a 2yr. old cat, which likes speaker grills. I cover them, when not in use ... another story, different time. With the fly-fishing desk in the current spot, there is no place to correctly wall-mount the surround at ear level???? I'm very tempted to find a different spot in the house for it. It was made by my brother, so it is sentimental. Any other ideas? More pics from outside the room:
  8. Just want to reiterate, I'm open for any suggestions ... even if it means re-organizing the room, as long as I have access to the closet ...
  9. Thanks for the welcome! I'll try to answer: There is a shelf right above the TV ... that is NOT a surround speaker, just a cardboard box. I will only be running a 5.1 system. So I assume that will be just side surrounds? Yes, I understand about room treatment. It was actually wood paneling, that was covered with drywall. New wood floors were added, and I just have the carpet. The room right now seems "Over-Crowed. I'm looking for ideas, such as a corner desk, elimination of the fly-fishing desk, etc. Still laughing about the Large Mouth Bass comment . In my younger years, I was an avid fisherman in Upstate, NY where I currently reside. Another comment ... should I also be looking to make an upgrade on the receiver?? To something 4K, HDMI, etc??
  10. I have a small room 9’W x 12’L. I use it as a Den/Listening Room. I’m in the process of setting it up as a general HT/Gaming Room. The equipment I’m using - 5.1 setup: Sharp 1080p 32” LED TV Sony STR-DA5ES A/V Receiver (Old School, But Still Sounds Amazing) Sony BD Player Apple TV Mac Mini (Media Server) Klipsch RSX5 Speakers Klipsch RCX4 Center Speaker Atlantic Technology 262 Subwoofer The room has a lot of oddities to it. It has a large window on the far end, a side window on the long wall, a closet door that I need access to, a large cold air return, and a heat vent. Combine a desk and computer for my family, and a large “Fly-Fishing,” desk, it makes it difficult to get everything setup as I want it. As of right now, I have wall mounted the TV on the interior long wall, and have the center channel on a stand below. The components are to the left of the center channel on a black metal stand. The left speaker on a stand in the corner, very close to the components. The subwoofer is on the right side, and the right speaker is on the other side of the sub, giving just enough room for the closet door to open. So basically the equipment is all shifted to the left (not centered on the wall). I’ll be purchasing a love seat to place opposite the TV in the next day or so. Distance from the seating position to the center channel is about 7'. Questions: Where should I mount the rear speakers? Up high in the corners aimed down?? I have no problem running wires. Is there any other layout options that I might have for the room? What is the best method to deal with wire management … the old receiver has me using more cables. Here are the pics. Current Picture as of 1/9/16: Pictures Taken the other day which show room … messy, as I was unboxing things, etc.:
