  1. Thanks Jimmy. At a friends house on the lake for the weekend and missing my new babies already! I'll blow the dust off them when I get home.
  2. Yes there is. There's also a Magnolia Home Theater store nearby that offers Klipsch but I'd still have to use a 3rd party shipper since these would never fit in my Camaro.
  3. Update to the quick update: Eric at Sound Distributors went over and above my expectations on the replacement process, I'm happily enjoying breaking in my new 280's. They're currently connected to my Emotiva LPA-1 in my media room so they have enough space to breath. I'll post pics in the proper thread soon.
  4. I was looking at some two channel tube amps that are made in Japan but it has been a very long time since using the tube tester at the local hardware store. These speakers will certainly allow me to grow my system over time, and I'd love to have the tube sound back again along with a better turntable somewhere down the road.
  5. The RMA shipping label was left at my door today and I'll exchange with the new one on Friday. Looks like I'm going to have to start my vaca a few hours early so I can be here for the delivery. Think these damn heavy speakers can break the neighbors windows when connected to a ***generous*** amp? The closest neighbor with the noisy dog is about 50' from my backyard. Don't want to risk back strain in the event they can't.
  6. Quick update on the hurt speaker: I'm working closely with the dealer and if all goes as planned I'll have the replacement on Friday, the day before my birthday, the beginning of my vacation, and in time to play some new records I bought. Just FYI, I've purchased three albums so far on Amazon and not one issue with warping or cracking. I'm pretty happy about that.
  7. Well I can't tell you exactly how loud because I broke my SPL meter when the damn battery connector wouldn't cooperate. I had them cranked up pretty good though for few songs last night and I'd say the 280's and the amp were performing well. They definitely need to be in a bigger room with good acoustic treatments, which I'm working on.
  8. I hear ya ricktate. I temporarily set them up yesterday in the small TV room because I couldn't stop looking at them and wondering what they're like. Well they're still there. I played DG's "Rattle That Lock", some other SACD's I own through my Oppo BDP-93 and... well... and I realize they need break-in time but it is really going to be a difficult decision. So, initial impressions: very good detail, I would say that right now in the very small room they are forward, aggressive, the tweeters are dominating but not overly and the thought of fatiguing doesn't really apply to my ears. I have high frequency hearing loss in one ear and I tend to focus on the cymbals and how well they are reproduced. Beautiful to look at (I'm single, no hot women to look at... BTW what's that hole in the back for? ) Good deep accurate lows which is another reason I went with the 280's instead of the 260's. Reviewers mentioned deep bass was lacking in the 260's. I'm very impressed so far.
  9. Klipsch's website shows them as authorized. I would never have purchased from them if they weren't. I did my research. I'm hoping Klipsch's support team will respond to my ticket sometime early next week. Otherwise I'll try to find a phone number so I can speak to someone in person.
  10. This "dealer" is an online only retailer on Amazon. I've printed and saved all correspondences with them and will present them to Klipsch. Beginning to wonder whether or not they're interested though...
  11. Working to get the hang of this forum's software. Please stand by...
  12. Thanks Bill, and my goodness what a lineup you have! Not likely I'd ever want to leave my house if it was as well equipped as yours! And yes I went with the Cherry finish on the speakers.
  13. Thanks all for you input. I live near Dallas; grew up in South Jersey. I filled out a support ticket and hopefully I'll hear something back soon. chriswhotakesphotos, I plan on driving theses speakers with a Yamaha A-S501 integrated, but now you've got me wondering. This series of speakers are indicated as being very efficient, so between that and staying within my budget, I chose the A-S501. Maybe during the break-in I should connect them to my Emotiva LPA-1 in my HT setup?
  14. Hi all. I'm posting here in 2 channel because my newly purchased RP-280F's will be used for only that purpose. Fact is I've never even listened to the Klipsch brand and used to make fun of the name to a friend who owns them in his HT setup. My 5.1 setup in the media room are all B&W as well as an older pair in the smaller TV room. I purchased the 280F's basically due to word of mouth, print reviews and Klipsch's history. The bad news is, they were damaged during shipping to me and the "authorized dealer" is giving me conflicting explanations regarding how the damage may have occurred. I was told that they pack them in their box with extra material before they send them, but my question is, why are they even boxing & unboxing them to begin with? Aren't the speakers boxed at the factory? I've watched some YouTube unboxing videos and the boxes are the same type with all of the same Klipsch branding printed on them. Anyway glad to be here to talk about this magnificent brand.
