  1. Thanks, I already found the schematic and parts are on the way. Excited for the result.
  2. Dear friends, I've been enjoying my RF-3 for quite a few years now but recently I aquired a set of Cabasse Chaloupe speakers. First impression was the Chaloupes do voices and acoustic instruments way better but they lack bottom end and the RF-3 sounds better allround and is fuller. Two weeks of listening later I actually enjoy the clarity of the Chaloupes better, way more precise and detailed than the RF-3. Just a pity they lack bass, which I tried to fill out with a sub, but they just can't compete with the RF-3 on electronic music or heavy rock. Can't keep em both, the Chaloupes currently have my preference for listening, but I just can't let my loyal RF-3s go, even though their sound character is less refined, they do everything very well and I just can't justify replacing them with a maybe better but also somewhat limited alternative. Now, if only you could have that same detail and clarity on the RF-3... A few years back there was talk of "better" tweeters or membranes for the RF-3, or was it a crossover mod, I just can't remember... Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks for all the replies, you guys confirmed what I figured myself, but you never know, right.
  4. My RF-3 have dual terminals, since I aquired enough length quality cable recently, is it worth to run 2 seperate cables from my amp's terminals to the seperate connections on the speakers or is the whole "bi-wiring" thing just a myth? Sure would be easier and cleaner to run just one cable and give the rest to my friend, but if it does make a difference, what are your experiences? Thanks.
  5. Pricepoint? About 250 euros, I have that C350 on the way now for 200... I hope I have made a good choice.
  6. Bill, I passed up on the C372, nice price but just a little too beat up with scuffs, faded lettering and so on. Seller claimed good technical state but I just wonder how stuff gets so beat up, my 25 year old budget amp still looks pristine. Bit of a luxery problem right now, C350 or C320BEE, both excellent state, nearly same price, recommendations anyone? Thanks.
  7. Great, that's good news, I offered this seller his minimum price and he accepted, he has it listed for 250 euros.
  8. Thank you for the replies so far. Bill, a new option has come up: NAD C372 for 180 euros, optical condition is fair, but the seller claims perfect technical condition. I've read some remarks about NAD reliability, is this something to worry about?
  9. Sorry for the big pictures, I don't know how to resize.
  10. Hello everyone, My name is Mario and recently I have acquired pair of mint condition RF-3 speakers, that I'm very happy with. I choose these because my living room is quite large and I love their detailed sound. So now I would like to upgrade my amp and I could use some advice on which one to chose. What I'm after is a very warm sounding amp with smooth mid highs to temper a bit of the in your face mid and highs of the RF-3's. My research led me to brands like Marantz, Denon or NAD. At the moment there is a nice Marantz PM78 or a Denon PMA985R up for grabs locally at a very reasonable price. But, I really like the look of vintage receivers, and there is an audio repair man I've met who is selling a Marantz 2226 and a Marantz SR2000, fully refurbished, also reasonably priced. What would you recommend me to buy? The efficient 90s amp or the less powerfull but beautiful vintage receiver, considering I'm after warm sound, mellow mid highs, but still tight dynamics? Or look further for maybe a suited NAD? Any advice is appreciated. My budget is 200 euros, which is why I'm going second hand.
