  1. Hey guys i can get a sony PFM-50C1 50 inch plasma. I currently own a 2 year old sony Hdtv (4:3 at 50 inches). A friend of mine can get me the sony plasma at exactly cost price. What i want to know is will the plasma be better on cable tv. I know it will be better on dvd, but cable and satalite tv is my concern. Also i heard that plasma tv's are superior to Lcd when it comes to poor signals such as cable and satalite. Is this true. The Ear where are you Thanks
  2. "iow the fabled adjustable crossover in the preamp" Hey BOA12 this is what you mentioned above, what does IOW mean by the way.
  3. hey guys, Do you think that if i returned my PW-2200 and got a servo 15 i would get more punch and midbass since it is a sealed design. Just a thought, since i have heard that the servo is also very good down low, and is NOT A ONE NOTE SUB that is very tight. What do you think, i do not mind paying the extra money. Thanks again!
  4. Hey guys, It's not like the PW-2200 really lacks tightness, but it's just not as fast and tight as a 10 inch sub thats why i am looking to add one like the infinity IL100, if that is a good sub that is! Maybe i will use the PW-2200 for HT and the 10 inch for music or maybe cross the two. Who know's but for now opinions would be great for 10 inch subs in the $600 canadian range. Thanks, and yes i have tried everything you guys mentioned.
  5. Hey boa, i am using klipsch RF-3 as my mains with an onkyo reciever which has a fixed crossover at 80hz. thanks!
  6. Hey whats up guys, A few weeks ago i purchased a PW-2200 since i live in canada. I noticed one thing, this sub is very good down low, but does not really give you that tightness and speed in the 40hz to 80hz range. Would adding a desent quality 10 inch sub fix this issue. This is what i thought of, use the PW-2200 for anything below 40 hz, and then cross a 10 inch Infinity IL100 sub to fill in frequencys between 40hz and 80hz. Is this a good idea, because i am looking for that mid bass punch and speed. By the way is the IL100 a good sub for this, if not what other subs would you reccommend withing the same price range. Please note that i live in canada so i do not want to spend anymore than $600 canadain. Would the servo 15 maybe be my answer, since it is a sealed enclosure! Thanks!
  7. hey guys i own the PW-2200, which i just bought a few weeks ago. I have noticed that a lot of people have been adding EQ to their sub. What does the EQ do, i have heard people say that it gives you flater response, what the heck does that mean. I have also heard that you can get cleaner bass down low as well as more SPL, is all this true. If you do reccomend an EQ what is a good sub EQ in canada for about 200 dollars. Thanks!
  8. Any idea what the room size was when the Paradigm SPL measurments were taken. You see the guy at the store, told me that if i wanted to buy a second PW-2200 i would have to purchase it within 30 days to take advantage of a low price of $600. I may be moving into a new house with a much bigger room, that's why i am asking about spl. I may or may not need a second, but only SPL measurement will tell me what to do. Thanks again!
  9. Sorry, but one more question about PW-2200 Here is some of TV's data on those subs as tested by Tom Nousaine. Paradigm PW 2200 (early test) 107.4 /20hz~91db (112.8 peak) Paradigm PW 2200 (most recent test data) 107.4 / 20hz~84db / 25hz 104db / (112.8 peak) I notived that the PW-2200 has two readins at 20 hz, one is 91~db and the other is 84~db, why is there two different readings, were they done in two different size room, my room is about 2040 cubic feet, so what kind of spl can i expect at 20 hz. Thanks Tom, and Seb! Text
  10. Thanks tom, First of all the subs sound great, you were right. Boy you guys at SVS are so honest, it's almost unbelievable. Anyways i have another question. If i want to use a lower cross over point than my reciever (80hz) on music, than can i hook it up through the speaker level inputs. And if so would i have to turn the sub off in my reciever, because if i don't than wouldn't the LFE out on my reciever continue to send a signal and cross at 80hz. Lets say i did do that and set the sub at 40hz, then would i still have to use the LFE out on my reciever for movies. I have heard of people using both line level and low level inputs, but the problem is you have to adjust the cross over everytime you watch movies and music. Anyways this is what i would have to do for each source, i think! Music- Set crossover at 40hz on sub, turn sub off in reciever, set speakers to ? (large or small) on reciever, not sure maybe you could fill me in. Movies Set crossover on sub back to 80 hz, turn sub on in the reciever, set speakers to large on reciever so it will also cross at 80 hz. I think i am right above, if not could you please correct me, and tell me if i will run into any problems when using both low and high level inputs. Sorry for the long questions, but thanks for your help again Tom!
  11. Hey guys i just bought a single PW-2200 sub, which was highly reccomended by Tom at SVS. I did post a question before of a single SVS 2039CS+ vs dual PW-2200. For now i am going to try one, if i feel the need for more bass then i will add another. Anyways no that i have bought the sub, i need a lot of help setting it up. Tom are you there! This is my equipment: Klipsch RF-3 Mains Klipsch RC-3 Centre Klipsch RS-3 Surrounds Onkyo TX-DS575X Reciever -(with analog sources it has fixed crossover at 80 hz, wether i set the speakers to large or small on my reciever) -(With Digital sources it has a fixed frqeuncy at 80 hz when speakers are set to large, but when set to small i think there is no cross over active in the reciever and all LFE goes to sub) Well here is my equipment, and i think i am right about the onkyo recievers bass management, i may be wrong, and if i am please correct me. Anyways with the information above could you please help me set up my new subs, crossover, phase, etc. The sub will be corner loaded ( 13 inches from side wall, 8 inches from rear wall) My room is 19 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 8 feet high. If need it setup for both music and ht!
  12. Thanks TV, but isn't the servo 15 cleaner than the PW-2200 on music. I have heard that it is much quicker, and overall better sounding. Thanks!
  13. Hey guys, I will make this short and sweet. Is the servo 15 as good in spl and overal as a single SVS 2039CS+. I am looking at the servo, because i live in canada. You see i can get the servo 15 for $1250 or an SVS 2039CS+ for $2000, all canadian dollars. I heard the servo can put out as much as 96db to 100db at 20hz. If the svs 2039CS+ is going to put out maybe 2 or 3 more db's, then why not go for the servo which will be $750 cheaper, but will be 3 db less. I have never heard the servo nor the SVS, so your opionions would be great. I have heard many people say that paradigm is a better bang for the buck in canada, and the svs is the better bang for the buck in the us. By the way i was considering buying two PW-2200, but people told me that a single servo will give more output and will sound better on music. Oh ya buy the way is the servo any good for R&B or HIP HOP music, hey im only 19 but i do like quality bass! Thanks!
  14. Hey guys i posted a topics yesterday, which was about DUAL PARADIGM PW-2200 vs a SINGLE CS or CS+. Now that i know that the SPL will be very close with two paradigms, i need to know a few other things. Will the paradigm be as TIGHT, FAST, CONTROLLED, and FLAT as the SVS CS or CS+ subs. Also i have heard that the svs are never boomy, is this the same case for the pw-2200 subs. I hate bloated subs. Thanks again!
  15. Hey guys, would two Paradigm PW-2200 beat a single SVS 2039CS or 2039CS+ in spl at 20 hz and higher. The reason i am considering the dual paradigm pw-2200 is because in canada i could get two for about $1300, where the SVS CS would cost me $1600, and the SVS CS+ for about $2000 in canadian dollars. My only concern is are the pw-2200 subs as flat, and tight as the SVS subs. Also are they as fast. Has anybody done any comparisons between the paradigm and svs subs? Thanks for your opinions!
