  1. I bet it it sounds very "live" on good recordings...and beats the crud out of anything else that you've heard out of a "monkey coffin".

A recommendation: try placing a double layer of thick, soft, fuzzy material across the tops of the La Scalas and listen again for clarity and focus.  It's cheap and easy to try, and if you don't like, it, it's easy to undo.

    Enjoy!

    Chris

U haven't steered me wrong yet I will give it a try. ..I use my telefunken and sb1&sb2s for my reference /lab...keep in touch. ..I b pissing the neighbors off meantime. .gotta luv it..

  2. This one is quite likely since it was a very popular classical album at that time:

Also found as part of a larger set of sonatas from other composers on CD:

This recording is produced in stereo format--but was actually in mono--and has significant mastering EQ that would do what you mentioned ("...produced enough sound pressure that actually cause you to fall to your knees because of equilibrium pressure").  Of the famous Bach flute sonata recordings, this one still draws me to its interpretations and style more than more recent (and much better recorded) versions by other musicians.

What do think of my pieces? And you nailed it..

  3. Perhaps you are thinking of Deodato's version of Also Sprach Zarathrustra? That was popular for demoing speakers back then...

Thanks for your feedback it was bach...I put part of my system on this subject. .

  4. Okay, I understand that you're trying to trace down what a could have been a demo used Klipsch salesmen.  This is in contrast to some wacky questions we get like, "I heard an album but can't remember the name."

But as a wild guess based on little information let me suggest Rampal and Bolling.  The album was big in that time period.  Very good.  light jazz.  OTOH it is not quite up to screaming flutes bringing the listener to his knees.

In rock, Jethro Tull, used flute.  "Thick as a Brick" is a rocker but not too much flute.

OTOH, "Bouree" by Tull, using flute, is a jazzed up version of Bach.

.  I'd suggest you row around YouTube for more Tull.  You might find your tune.

  5. Good day sir back in 1976 Klipsch Pro was a big thing in the New Orleans area a Salesman came to a distributor of Klipsch in Gretna and played an album that had a flute Concerto in it that produced enough sound pressure that actually cause you to fall to your knees because of equilibrium,, pressure. My question is is there anybody left from back in the days can tell me what the name of that album was they were ran through a pair of LSi with a crown DC amp I've searched around and I cannot find it thank you for any input you can give me on this

  9. FWIW, they are definitely II's. Luckily, I was able to buy them even though two days had gone by since the ad was placed. I thought for sure I was going to miss out on them since I didn't have the cash to buy them but I decided to put my Heresy's up for sale to come up with the money.

They sold quick which was good but I was on pins and needles the whole day, worried that someone else would get the Forte's.

I was really surprised the seller still had them since he was very negotiable on the price. I was a little disappointed due to the cabinets having some flaws but it's nothing that can't be repaired. The main thing is all the drivers are working and they sound great.

A HUGE thanks to opusk2k9 for posting the ad for them!

  10. My 76 khorns are utility black. . Cosmetics & Aesthetics.are in the eye of the beholder. ...but I feel that someone would be the one with the 64/65 Mustang with the flames and riding on 32's..it's a shame what people do for upgrades destroy history like what's happening where I live and raised. .new Orleans and our monuments....absolutely crazy. ..thank y'all for letting me vent out. ..much love to the real friends and fans of paul Wilbur klispch, my friend since 83...he knew his shet...even in the military he redesigned barrels on ships just check out what is your rank was...
I'm proud to possess an original pair of 1976 K horns with no upgrades yes I have actual Musical reproducers not speakers and their are motors in my cabinets. ....If eye, wanted to change my octaves or my frequencies I would buy any EQ/processor after running sound reinforcement I think I have enough knowledge to say after growing up an audio audiophile since I was 14 years old and owning Snell DCM Genesis they don't hold a candle to Klipsch Heritage speakers of course..... ones Holy Grail is in his own Mind's Eye.... room acoustics live medium dead room.... I have destroyed Apartments with MCMs and LSI splits I've owned sound reinforcement company four stacks of MCMs 8 18 inch JBL bass bins I have to tell you that I have seen 145 SPL...at c weight.. with two active Ashley 4 way crossovers with QSC's and and creast ca12s amps..I could hurt something yea...
