so after all that I decided to go with the RP280/450C set up. I think getting them black was the right choice too. I was buying so much other gear I needed to shave off a few bucks where I could. thinking down the road I could get the RF7III's. if I wanted.  Have to say I am very satisfied with these speakers. Not really the Klipsch sound I am accustomed too- but they definitely rock for Movies & music. The RS62II's work great with them and the 5800's in the ceiling. Paired them with a Yamaha A3060 and and external amp for 7.1.4. Atmos sound awesome. finally got the JVC projector and Stewart screen up. so far so good. looking forward to some movie watching now.

What gray is that? Do you remember the number by any chance?

  2. Have been combing the forums for a few weeks now, and appreciate the time everyone puts in to help.

I am in process of finalizing my speaker list and could definitely use some help with rear surrounds and subs. Below is what I had in mind and it seems from the forums, it is ok, but I was looking for the preferred option.

Room is 18' x 16'6" in a basement. MLP will be about 36"-40" from the back wall.

    RP-280F (L, R)

    RP-450C (C)

    RP-250S (Side surrounds)

    RP-160M (rear surrounds)

    R-112SW (x2)

Request 1) Keeping LCR same, what is preferred for the rear surrounds? RP-160M, RP-250S or RP-250F? The reason I ask is all 3 choices are within ballpark of each other after I consider cost of stands for the RP-160M

Request 2) Is it better to have 2 R-112SW vs. 1 R-115SW? (having 2 R-115SW will basically blow my budget)

Layout attached. The 8 boxes on side and back wall are columns.

Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Thanks RoboKlipsch & MetropolisLakeOutfitters...seems like I should be bringing the rears closer together.  Layout was based on putting the rears 135-150 degrees from listening position...but because of the distance that throws them in the corner.  I do like the CDT's for the ceiling but still shopping.  There is the same question about direct vs wide dispersion for ceiling speakers as well.  I'm glad to hear that the 250S on the side will work well.  I'll post some photos as I get everything set up

Are you mounting the RP-160M to the wall or going with stands? If going with stands, does it make sense to then look at RP-250F? Since the price after stands will be pretty close to RP-250F

I am in a similar situation as you and had read this on the forum

There are some very informative HT build threads on the AVS forum. Some cover every single step.

There are a few on this forum also.

Thank you @ceptorman! I have been following the threads on AVS for a few weeks now..and also some of your advise on the Klipsch owners thread :)

Hello question for anyone who can answer.

I'm upgrading from an all in one system to true (hopefully ) surround sound system.  I could use some advice on a few things as I'm learning as I go.

Background in usage play games, and watch sports and movies. No music unless it's from one of those things.

1- I plan on buying a denon AVR-X4300H receiver. Judging by the items I list will this be a good match together that will give me great sound?

2- I want to purchase the RP-280F for my 2 front speakers

3 - As for my center channel. I'm trying to decide if I want to get the Rp-440C or the RP-450C. From what I can gather it seems the specs are pretty even besides a minor difference in the frequency range. But can anyone tell me besides the size of the woofer and cabinet size is there a big difference is sound between the two?? And which would be recommended

4- Next I'm trying to decide for my back/surround speakers which would be best for sound. The RP-160M or the RP-250S? I plan to have them at ear level behind a couch and if I choose the 250S mount them on a wall. If it's the 160M I'll mount them on a stand.

Any advice I get is much appreciated and welcome. Not much of a audiophile but really want to upgrade what I have now to great movie sound.

Also I am putting this in my living room as I do not have a theater room.

Again thanks to anyone who responds.  I had no idea the rabbit hole I was going down when I started this

I am in the exact same position..including the receiver :) Very interested in the feedback from the nice people here.

What are you doing for the sub?
