Would speaker performance be noticeably affected if I applied a different veneer over the factory veneer?

I have scoured the spec sheets between these two models, and found only one noticeable technical difference between these speakers. The RF-3 is rated at 225 watts max. continuous, and the RF-3II is rated at 150 watts. I know this can not be the only difference. Can anyone else point out what enhancements the newer model has?
