I have both the SEX 2.0 and 2.1, they are very fun to build, the step by step assembly instructions are almost moron proof. The sound quality is fantastic! I have demonstrated the amps in over a dozen audio shows and they always receive great reviews. Some advice, read the assembly manual before starting anything, and take your time building the amp, you do not need to set any land speed assembly records. Build the amp in stock form first, use it for a while then add the C4S board and or change the caps. You will be very surprised how nice two watts sound. As a headphone amp they will power most power hungry phones. For additional info please check out the Bottlehead forum. Later on you can build their Moreplay preamp. There is a saying, "music sound better when you build it yourself", the quote comes from Dan the CEO at Bottlehead.

If you know how to solder take a look at the Bottlehead Moreplay preamp kit. It uses 6V6 tubes, fun to build and sounds great. There are several other tubes that you can roll such as 6AQ5, 7C7 and 6CM6.

If you know how to solder and understand instructions consider building a Bottlehead Quickie battery preamp clone. It uses a pair of 3S4 tubes. Preamp sounds great, you can build it for about $100, batteries not included.

The amp uses the TPA3122 chip.

The unit next to the Moreplay is the Bottlehead Quicksand amplifier. The Quicksand is a battery powered chip amp, I use it when it get really hot in San Francisco.

I just finished building my Bottlehead Moreplay preamp. It uses a single 6V6 tube wired as a triode and features three pairs of inputs, three position selector switch and two pairs of outputs.

Ampex 6973 monoblocks. Several years ago a friend was tasked with clearing out his late uncle's home. Kindly he asked me what I wanted, so I replied that cash, gold, firearms or vacuum tube amps would be nice. After I replaced all the caps and out of spec resistors I found that these amps sound fantastic!

EL84 PP Motorola Amplifier. All out of spec resistors have been replaced, all caps including the can capacitor replaced. The power and output transformers are larger than a comparable Magnavox amp.

"Electronics for Dummies" you can find it through your public library, cheaper than purchasing it.
