IMO, get an $800.00 or so AVR with minimum stereo preouts and then a quality new/used outboard amp.  The $1500.00 should easily cover both.

I’m in Kansas City. Do you have specific models you’d recommend? The local store recommended Marantz AVR 6012. Thoughts?
