  1. Here are some pictures. The cabinets are a bit worn. (i.e. veneer chipping on the front, water marks on the stain, scratches, etc.) Serial Numbers: 6N074 and 6N075 ...as far as price goes??? I don't know??? Send me an email and make me an offer. Thanks! -TPD
  2. I have a pair of Cornwall Cabinets (no speakers or x-over, etc.) that I would like to sell. I live in the Dallas area (McKinney). Let me know if you are interested. Thanks, -TPD
  3. It has recently come to my attention that in the move to the new BB, the tweeter diaphragm replacement pictures that I had posted previously are no longer available. I've zipped them up and re-posted them here. Enjoy! -TPD tweeter.zip
  4. Fred, I got on the EV website and found an "official" distributor of EV speakers... He refered me to the "liscenced" EV repair shop in Dallas, Texas. I called them and they just happened to have the parts I needed in stock... (I'm all about instant gratification!) I paid $22/diaphragm (USD). You can also mail order them from http://www.simplyspeakers.com/12diaphragms.htm I have no experience with the Klipsch version, but Trey Cannon at Klipsch was very helpful. You might want to drop him a line. From a price standpoint, I'm going to have to defer to someone else about the value of the K-77-M's. -TPD This message has been edited by TPD on 06-05-2002 at 10:16 AM
  5. BTW... I think I've also figured out why there is a ~$50 price difference in the diaphragm you get from EV and the one you get from Klipsch... From a conversation that I had with Trey Cannon, I realized that what Klipsch sells you is the ENTIRE diaphragm assembly. Not just the diaphragm itself. The diaphragm assembly is the round black part, into which fits the diaphragm itself. If you replace it the Klipsch way, you don't have to solder in the diaphragm, you just have to knock the horn off the old diaphragm assembly, put the 3 parts back together, then solder the wires on to the new assembly. (with a few gaskets and screens thrown in for good measure...) The thing to remember (if you buy just the diaphragm) is to make sure you have the red line on the replacement diaphragm (which indicates the location of the "return wire") to line up with the "gap notch". On both of my tweeters, the diaphragm lead which was connected to the "return wire" was soldered to the black post. (as opposed to the red post.) Does this line up with everyone else's experience? Thanks again to Trey for the helpful information and the pdf files he sent me. -TPD
  6. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this post should be worth about 10,000! -TPD
  7. I just wanted to put the word out that I'll be putting my Cornwalls up for sale on e-bay soon.(i.e. tomorrow or Saturday) I figured I'd put out a quick post to see if someone is interested in them around here, I'd give them first shot before I post them. I replaced the diaphragms in the tweeters last night. They sound great, however the cabinets are a bit worn. (i.e. veneer chipping on the front, water marks on the stain, scratches, etc.) I took some great pictures of the digaphram replacement process. I'll post them later if anyone is interested. -TPD
  8. Steve, I've tried everything, I can't send anything to that address. I get the following error... User Steve.Crowley (Steve.Crowley@faa.gov) not listed in public Name & Address Book Do you have a yahoo account or some other email? Thanks, -TPD
  9. Steve, You're right, I gave them a good listen last night. (i.e. more than just hooking them up one at a time to check to see if they work.) I cranked up the THX tag at the front of "Star Wars" and it knocked my socks off! Then the first note of the opening credits, you can actually hear the bow being drawn across the strings of the double bass in the orchestra... WOW! (enough of me gushing...) Fini, Yea, I'm having a ball! I find this fascinating. Let me know if there are any other clues I can provide... I've lugged them into the living room now. I'll be going in for hernia surgery tomorrow... -TPD
  10. Here's a shot of the RB stamped on the back edge. (I had to remove the cross over picture to make room... 6 images only... Let me know if you need to see the cross over again.) -TPD
  11. Hey Steve, I tried to email you at steven.crowley@faa.gov but it bounced... (I also tried stevencrowley@faa.gov) Have you got another address I can use to get in touch with you? Thanks, -TPD
  12. I'll look around again for any other faint markings on the labels, but I don't think there are any. It appears that the only thing handwritten is the tester's name. The serial number and "RB" are actually stamped into the wood on the edge of the back of the speakers. It also has "USA" stamped on the edge too, but I figure that just indicates where it was made. -TPD p.s. Fini, I didn't want to gloat. I paid $50 for the pair.
  13. I'll try to make some time this evening to post a picture of the sticker... -TPD
