  1. After arranging the correct Google search term combinations I was able to arrive at some answers on my own. Yes, I *can* conceivably do this and they can also be used as full range speaker. However, after looking at more 5.1.2 arrangements and diagrams of how they are wired up to my receiver, it seems that the rearward most ceiling mounted speakers would become my ATMOS source I only need to relocate them a few feet forward to be directly over my sofa. Since I don't necessarily need a Dolby certified speaker to gain ATMOS functionality and given that there are other wall mounted options for the rear surrounds, I think that I will look elsewhere. Thanks.
  2. Good afternoon, folks. It's been 15 years since I've upgraded receivers and almost 20 since I've replaced my sub and main speakers. I typically upgrade, set up, enjoy and then forget about the stereo scene for a decade or more, so I'm not current. Recently, I upgraded my trusty Denon 2805 to an AVR 3400. I also replaced my made in USA JBL SVA1800s with some Focal Chorus 726s and added an R-120SW. Anyway, my old speaker configuration was the classic arrangement of a set of fronts, center, sub, rear left and right perpendicular to my listening area and another set of rears behind. The first set of rears are wall mounted and angled downward while the rearward set are ceiling mounted. After learning more about ATMOS and discovering that I was most of the way there, I thought that I'd see what is required to complete the set up. I read the Dolby set up guide and, even though I have a classic 7.1 arrangement, I can basically swap the wall mounted speakers for ceiling mount and have an ATMOs set up in 5.1.2. Like so: https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/5-1-2-setups.html Look at diagram #2. If I purchased a set of RF-140s, could I wall mount them in that same location and still get the ATMOS experience (or a fraction thereof)? By looking at the diagram, the seating position will still be close to the 5.1.2 diagram, but the speakers would be slightly lower than a true ceiling mount. I still listen to multichannel SACD and DVD-A. So placing the 140SAs atop my Focal front speakers or wall mounting them on the front wall as some do will not work for me. While I have the stage, two more questions: 1. Will these speakers acoustically function as full range speakers or are they primarily designed to serve only in an ATMOS "fill" capacity? 2. The AVR 3400 provides ~ 100 watts to the surround channels. The 140SAs can handle ~ 60w continuously. Is this a potential problem? Thanks!
