How come everyone I hear uses software DVD decoders now instead of hardware decoders? It used to be that no one recommended software because the quality was bad and CPUs had trouble keeping up. Now I know the CPUs can handle it but is the quality just as good or better than hardware decoders? What exactly are the pros and cons of each? I already have a hardware decoder (Creative Dxr3) but I got PowerDVD for free with my 3d card. Should I switch to PowerDVD?

I like newegg.com alot. Alot of other people recommend it as well.
