I was talking 70s. I get stuck back then at times! Wish I had a time machine. I would go back.

I have a bit of nostalgia for the days of muscle cars and long hair myself,I'd go back too but only if I could take what I know now with me.:D

Some still prefer a stick shift...real old school...Hurst, etc...a man machine...

I be one, modern muscle having an LS powered car but I row a 6 speed manual with a heavy clutch (late LS7 clutch) and aluminum flywheel.B)

My actual shifter knob on an MGW short throw shifter.

The 400 CI Olds engines of the late 1960's were the dog in the Olds Rocket engine line. Not their later performance 1970 455. Yes anything that wasn't a Chevrolet small block was more money to build due the vast numbers of these engines built since the mid 1950's. The trouble with the Chevrolet small block was they wouldn't idle properly with a carb on them. Expect 800 RPM with a Chevrolet Engine, where any big Olds, Buick or Pontiac Engine could both idle at 500 RPM and make gobs of torque between idle and 5000 RPM. As could Mopars 440 and 426 CI engines. The 440 Mopar was a better quarter mile car from the factory at the track. It was the Mopars and the Buick, Pontiac and Buick engined cars that were winning there in the early to late 1970's when you could run with one or more carbs and high octane leaded gas (I prefered the Quadrajet as I could modify them in my sleep and they were the carb back in the day most like fuel injection). You could modify Pontiac Heads to use Big Block Chevy cylinder heads parts like more adjustable rocker arms, etc. Another trick to make better daily performance.

Interesting choice. He shoved a 403 Olds engine in that Hurst Olds (an engine I would avoid like death back in the day - but at least it would fit the Olds/Chevrolet transmission w/o modification) in place of the 307 Olds block that it came with (a boat anchor). Again being an Oldsmobile, I  would have built a 455 Olds Block to W30 specs (500 ft lbs of torque and 370 HP both rather underrated for insurance purposes) and upgraded from there for more torque; which is still the key to winning a drag race.

Not a 403 Olds and not an LS1 either, it's an LS2 all aluminum modern Corvette engine engine taken out to a 403 cid mill and procharged.

Far different animal,I have an LS1 in my Camaro it's an all aluminum 5.7L performance engine the LS2 is a 6.0L all aluminum performance engine that came mostly in Corvettes and Camaros but also GTO and some Caddys.

396 and 427 are the best two Chevy engines ever built in my unimportant opinion. Both tough as nails. My cousin had a 427 in a short bed Chevy pick up that was bad a$$! 4x4 with a locker in the back, and tru track up front. Never had to go to four wheel drive in the mud, unless you just wanted to.

In their time I would agree,I had a '69 Camaro I ran several 396's and a 427 in over the 14 years I owned it.

At the same timeframe I like the 327 for it's high winding short stroke over the 350.

That said they just can't compete with LSX power,an LS7 427 is an amazing powerplant and the power to weight ratio is way better than any iron block MK IV engine.

I love the Guess Who and have seen them three times --.

I saw them in the '90's reunited with Randy B. and it was a fantastic show ,they did both Guess Who and BTO stuff.

Bonus : Joe Cocker was also there and best off all I got free tickets in a private booth with a wet bar from a lumber salesman I dealt with when I was building cabinets.

  6. Totally feel your pain,Santana was here this summer just 40 minutes from my home and I live way out in the sticks.

I was excited to see him again since it has been quite a few years, then I saw that tickets started at $300 a piece.

Well there's no way I could justify $600 for me and the wife to go to a concert especially for someone I have seen before, very disappointing.

For that kind of money he should come to my place and play in my living room. lmao!

I'm guessing they are still looking for drivers. Had a gent approach me about OTR for him when I was coming back from IN last fall.

Was eating breakfast at the motel I overnighted at. Talking over coffee

    [see, I can/do blend in]

If you mean where I work no ,it's all local and a union job I was lucky to land. I had a friend working there that referred me,only 7 drivers there counting me.

I did OTR for a while and hated it,been running local for years doing everything from Chip trucks to dump trucks of all types and sizes,at Schnitzer I run end dumps like the one pictured as well as flatbeds, dry vans and roll off box trucks. Early morning start time is the same every day at 04:45,weekends off.

The first hour is a driver meeting we get our dispatch over coffee and a BS session then do a few stretches to loosen up before we go so our pre trip.

Great pay and bennies, time and a half over 8 hours and double time over 10 hours. Company supplied boots, prescription safety glasses etc.  Company phone with bluetooth.

I started there 3 weeks ago and will probably retire from there,5 years to get vested and I'll have a pension so I pretty stoked to have landed this gig.

a column shift would stop any modern car thief.

I enjoy both. Living in the boonies, I don't have to spend a lot of time with a foot on the clutch. In traffic/city, automatic all the way.

I learned a manual on a motorcycle.  Learned to not like manuals driving semi. Stop & go on the 405...ugh

I learned to drive in a '51 Chevy with 3 on the tree,my semi truck at work has an 18 speed, love it but I hear ya on getting stuck in traffic with it.

I also live in the boonies and love the stick shift in my car and shifting it and my motorcycles on country roads.

I own 3 Harleys including an old Ironhead Sportster that shifts on the right side like vintage Brit bikes and I have a  6 speed in my '01 SS Camaro.

My dad had a heart transplant many years ago, he had to go on a strict diet before and after and he said the same thing, even a piece of bread was so salty he could not it at all, he said everything was very salty.

All depends on the person,I kept hearing salt was bad so I cut as much out of my diet as possible.

Went for my regular physical and had blood drawn,I was sodium deficient. lol.

I dropped over 40 lbs just staying away from fast food, junk food and cutting back on sugar, feel much better and eat pretty much anything I want at meals.

Not to dare go OT but, it has been said that elephants can feel/hear(?) low vibration s to the point of communication from miles away.

I would have to consider LF as being a vital force in the animal kingdom. Certainly mass may well come into play for us as well.

Also whale sounds, they probably use frequencies we can not hear especially under water.

  11. I just enjoy seeing young people enjoying this music.

It looks as though the beatles music is destined to live on as classical music like Mozart or Beethoven has over the centuries.

Nobody is going to remember most of the 20th and 21st century music 200 years from now but I'd wager that many of the Lennon-McCartney songs will be.

  12. Well I'm an old fart (63) and I lost over 40 lbs a while back,I don't have time for work outs but I'm still working for a living and switched from a desk job to a job with quite a bit of physical activity so I guess that counts.

I'm fairly big,6' tall and dropped from 270 lbs to 225.

Maybe that's why I so love my K-Horns,I like to feel the music and they provide.

  13. Never missed an original episode of the original series as a kid,had to watch in my bedroom on a 13" GE black and white TV my Dad gave me when he finally broke down and bought a massive 19" color consol set. lol

Still enjoy watching once in a while when I get the chance, don't watch much TV these days despite having a couple 50" TV's and a satellite receiver.

150 channels and there's still nothing worth watching besides 50+ year old episodes of Star Trek .😄

  14. What city,I don't need no stinking city.

Actually I do have to work in the city of Portland,Oregon as a local truck driver and yes scooters and share bikes are everywhere and they're a PITA for me.

At the end of the day I get the F out of the city and back up here asap.

  15. I've all but given up watching TV anymore,I quit once before back in the 1970's and got sucked back in by the original Saturday Night Live.

It's 99% crap, can't trust anything on the so called news,TV shows are pretty much all stupid and boring, sometimes the commercials are better than the show and I hate commercials.

I'll watch an occasional classic movie as long as it's on a commercial free channel and a few other things like classic car auctions but mostly I leave it off going days and sometimes weeks without turning it on.

Interesting.  Not sure I want her to see this....  I don't need her to "slightly alter" the new room so it can double as a bowling alley...!!

I didn't know it (Maple) was harder than Oak!!

Eastern maple is much harder than oak,Western maple is much softer more like alder.
