  1. Tom, 2 people from Audio Karma are lined up for it. If they don't take it you can have it. Alfredo
  2. I'm giving away one Pioneer SX-980. It's in very good condition. Lights up when turned on no output from speakers though. Probably fixable or good for parts. I don't have time to mess around with it so I'll let someone else have it. Only catch is you have to pick it up. I live in Lombard (suburb of Chicago). Alfredo
  3. Hi, I bought these cabinets about a year ago with the intent of stripping and refinishing them. I got as far as stripping most of one cabinet when I lost interest. The cabinets are large enough for a 12" woofer and even a small horn. A new front baffle could easily be made to fit a different size woofer/horn opening. Once stripped and refinished they would make a nice furniture grade pair of cabinets. Internal dimensions probably around 4 - 5 cubic feet. Overall dimesions are 28 1/2" X 22" X 18" (H x W x D). Free to a good home. Only catch is you must pick them up. I live in Lombard (west suburb of Chicago). Thanks. Alfredo
  4. Piranha--The guy who bought them was an older gentlemen from Bourbonnais who had Cornwalls/Mac equipment. He came with another guy who was a JBL/Mac fan. They went to a great home you could tell this guy wasn't going to get rid of these speakers. Funny thing is the guy who bought the speakers only has web tv no computer and the other guy has nothing. He doesn't know about places like the Klipsch, Audioheritge or Audio Asylum forums. Just imagine how much information he is missing! When I told the guy about Audioheritage and how they have the huge library of scanned literatures his eyes got big! Makes you wonder how many other old timers are out there that are into Klipsch, Altec, JBL, etc that don't know about these places where we share information or have get togethers! Alfredo
  5. These have sold. Thanks everyone! Alfredo
  6. I think Tom had mentioned there was going to be a meeting in the area. Well it's tomorrow (sorry for the short notice). Ray is hosting and he has the Edgar Titans with the big sub. If you haven't heard these before it's a great sounding system. The link below is to the meeting post on AA. Post back if you think your going so that we can introduce each others at the meeting. 7. The gainclone is a great little amp. I've heard it many times including the shoot out at Tom's on his 605's against the commercial version of it. The owner was a little upset and I would be too if I spent $3000 on an amp that could be made from $50 - $100 (depending on your parts box). Kurt Chang only built a few of these for a couple of guys that are from the Chicago area who didn't have the resources/knowledge/time to put one together. I don't believe he is in the full time business of making/selling these. Kurt told me once that it took him longer to cut the wood for a make shift chassis to hold the power supply/chip amp then it did to solder the parts together! Also depending on the power supply you build the chip can put out anywhere from 20 - 50+ watts. Tom has a great idea by letting people try out this amp on their systems. I think folks here will be quite surprised at the sound. Alfredo
  8. No. I'm waiting for a repsonse on a few folks still. If your interested email me or PM me. I keep all requests in the order I receive them to be fair. Thanks! Alfredo
  9. Craig--Not sure what you mean by a horn system setup to run fullrange. Do you mean the whole system being horn load throught out all of the frequencies? My system is only horn loaded from about 80hz - 20Khz (or somewhere up there). I use the JBL dual 15" cabinet(bass reflex) from 80 hz down. The meeting that smilin is talking about in 2 weeks is fully horn loaded through all the frequencies. Very good system! Alfredo
  10. hightone--Smilin is coming to look at them soon so he has first dibs. If he doesn't want them you would be next. I could take paypal but the fee would be a big chunk. Let me see how much that would be. I do prefer cash but maybe we can work something out? Alfredo
  11. Hi Craig! Been good just real busy these last couple of months. I wanted to have a meeting before I got rid of these speakers so that everyone got a chance to hear them but I don't have the time. There is a Chicago meeting coming up but it's at this guy's house in Plainfield. Alfredo
  12. I really don't want to sell these speakers because I'll probably never see a pair again and they do sound wonderful. Unfortunately I need to clear stuff out and I need the money. As you can see from the picture I already have my main system (part of it Tom's old Altec's). I guess selling local allows someone else to get these for a bargain. I just want them to go to a good home. I did have one guy willing to drive from California to pick these up and another from Colorado. Go figure! If anyone is in the area and wants a listen before they go drop me a line. Alfredo
  13. Ok price dropped to $1700 OBO. Thanks. Alfredo
  14. These are a great pair of speakers and they don't come up for sale too often! I really hate to get rid of them but I just don't have room for them. Of course weighing 145 pounds each there is no way I'm shipping these suckers. I'm sure if I would agree to ship they would of sold already (probably to someone in the East). Besides don't they already own enough of our vintage JBL, Altec and Klipsch speakers! Alfredo
