  1. It is FIXED! Thanks T Guy for your help. I have to admitt I kinda like working and fixing this kinda crap!
  2. Thanks Trespasser guy, I just ripped my DVD player and my reciver out of the built in rack and rehooked them up with only the sub being the only speaker. It worked great, it's either me or the reciver that much I know for sure, but it's a start. To answer an earlier question I have the DVD hooked up with a digital coax. By the way what the best settings for my sub? For the level, low pass, and phase? Thanks again, it was gettin mighty frusterating. But I would of had an excuse for that SVS!
  3. I went a little crazy and hooked my digital coax from my DVD player right to the sub, I put in Moby and the sub started thumping. I quickly unplugged it, this leads me to belive that something is wrong witht the reciever. Right?
  4. I just tried the test tone and everything worked, except the sub! I also noticed that the light stays red and won't turn green unless I switch it on the back or replug the RCA sub feed. Is the sub dead?
  5. Cool, I'll just have to hook up my old DVD and see if thats the problem. Thanks for your help, by the way every time I hooked it up I just pluged a RCA jack in the back of my reciver at the subwoofer port and then just plugged that into the red RCA jack on the sub. IS this correct? it seemed to work fine before. Don
  6. Yeah, and when I put some thing on my DVD player the light turns to green. Also when I tried unplugging and repluging the rca plug in I heard that rumble from it, like it still works. Maybe its in my DVD player? I didn't have any trouble when I used my old Sony DVD but now with the 655 I'm experiecing trouble. Any idea?
  7. My sub does not seem to be working I had it stored for a while and since I rehooked it up I have had no bass response from it. I played around with my reciver and still can't tell whats wrong. Is there a way I can test the sub to see if it is working?
  8. No one has experience with built in speaker enclosures? I called a tech rep at Klipsch, stop rolling your eyes, and he said with the space I have and the amount of air surrounding the speaker I should have no diffrence in sound quality. Any other ideas? I have to decide if I need to rip down the plywood and put up new stuff before I start to trim it out. I'm going for a kind of panel wooded wall, like in a english study or a ritzy bank plus it's to match the bar. Thanks Don
  9. I just read the post about enclosing a speaker in the wall for a built-in effect. All three of the replies recommended not doing it, and now I find myself in the similar situation. My theater wall is on one side of basement and is framed for a ventless gas fireplace and to hide a gas shut off, a main water shut off and a vent that runs off the wall. I had planned and already built a paneled wall in birch plywood to enclose all this, with the fire place in, I put 2 built in shelves on each side of the wall. One will house my componets and the other will either hold DVDs or other crap. Over the fireplace is a huge built in "box" to kinda act as a built in mantel and will hold my center when the screen is not pulled down for movies. My situation is that I also have built in 2 openings with the inside dimensions of 22" deep by 20" wide and about 6 feet tall to house my 2 SB 2s in. The opening was to be covered in a speaker cloth grill. I made the opening large so to possible upgrade to RF 35s at a later date when I had the dough, I was under the impression that as long as I had enogh clarence from the back of the speaker to the wall I could enclose a speaker. As of right now with the smaller SB 2s it looks like I have more then enough space and air around the speaker. I have listened to them inside and have not been really able to tell a diffrence, but the room has vinyle flooring and no furniture and the sound is bouncing everywhere. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT<<
  10. Find another 500 bucks and get the Sony HS 10 projector. At 10 pounds it's an easy move, even every 2 years, does HDTV and you can have a 50 to 150" screen. Just a thought I love mine.
  11. I want to upgrade to the SS 1 also, any way you can share where your gettin this deal? I would then use my SS.5s for my rear effect speakers.
  12. Still for sale? Don't care about the warrenty.
  13. Most games and music are not encoded with surrond sound, Mostly newer music has the full surrond sound encoded on the CD. Also make sure your game system is set to surrond mode, I know my Xbox has multiple setting for diffrent surrond enviroments. I have the same fronts and rears that you do, and When my buddies play Halo it has great surrond effect, also when I play Radiohead or U2 the rears put out tons of sound. Hope this helps, for more info ask the grand master of knowledge "Dougdrake"! He knows EVERYTHING.
  14. Your dissapointed about not enough sound coming from your rears? You can always adjust the volume level through your reciver to get more punch from your rears. Most movies have little sound coming to the rears, they are more of an "effect" speaker to help simulate a surrond sound enviroment. The best placement of the rears I found is slightly to the rear, but on the sides of the viewers. Also they should be placed at least 2 to 3 feet above the listner. Hope this helps.
  15. Thanks for the info, I'll try it behind the screen, if it sounds distorted I'll just mount the speaker below the screen. By the way I have the Sony HS 10 and I completely LOVE it. For the price and pic quality there is no match!!!
  16. I would like to place my SC1 on a built-in enclosure on my theater wall, but my Dalite projector screen would be pulled down in front of it for movie viewing. Will I have alot of distortion from the sound coming through the screen or will it be barley noticeable? The screen is fairly thin and I do not want to purchase a micro perf screen since I'm only using a 92' screen and the holes I feel would be noticeable also they are really expensive. Note I do not have an overly sensative ear unfortunatly, and am unable to distinguish sound to most of your guy's degree. Thanks
  17. I currently am running SB 2s for my fronts in my home theater, but I'm rebuilding a cool old hifi cabinet from the 50s that my parents gave me. The speakers in it are all dry rotted and I was thinking of putting the SB 2s in the cabinet behind the cabinets cane grills. Now that leaves me to replace my fronts for the HT. Will I notice any big diffrence between the 2 diffrent type speakers? I use the HT room for both music and movies, the rest of the set up is SS 1s for the rears, a SC1 for the center and a KSW 12 for the sub, and 2 SS.5s for the rear center. Thanks Don
  18. I talked to a klipsch tech and he said that 12 gauge will be fine, which is great since I ordered the 500 ft roll. Hey, he suggested running my 2 ss.5s for the rear center since I wanted to upgrade my rear surrounds to ss1s and have been lookin for a suitable rear center. I'd have to split my 6th channel between them but it has 8ohms and 100 watts so ya think that will be okay if I wire them under 1 channel?
  19. Thanks Dougdrake, The reciever doesn't have a second room volume control. Good thing you mentioned that! I'll probably just use my old Sony reciver, that should work well. By the way I ordered the Carol 12 gauge in-wall speaker wire for my surround speakers, will it be okay to use that 12 gauge on the long 70 foot runs to my outdoor speakers? Or should I use a smaller gauge for those runs? If it dosen't matter I'll change my order for the larger roll of 12 gauge. Thanks DD
  20. Great, thanks! It does have an A/B switch but then one or the other set of speakers wont work. And the music wouldn't be turned up loud more of background music that will carry through the down stairs and up stairs. Does anyoneknow of a inexpensive 2 channel amp that would work well with a Sony ST985 reciver? Just in case I go with the 2nd room option.
  21. I was lookin into using banana plugs for the speaker wire connections to the back of my Sony reciever, since the wire connectors back there will accept them and make life a little easier. I saw that they sell banana plugs that will allow you to stack another set of speaker cables into the back of them. Say I was going to have people over and wanted to have music on in my Basement HT room on my SF 2s but also wanted to pump music to my frontroom's SB1s,can I double stack the front speaker connection to both sets of speakers? Or would this underpower my speakers and overwork my reciever? The reciver delivers 100 watts per channel, by 6 channels. The reciver has a 2nd room option but I would have to purchase another amp. Any ideas?
  22. Thanks guys, how about the SCR-2 from the synergy line for the rear? Anyone have experience with this speaker? I haven't hung the dry wall yet so anything is possible now. I'm just not sure what kind of sound comes from the rear center, and if it would sound wierd being admitted from the ceiling? Any experience with 6.1 out there?
  23. My system is currently all synergy, SB2s and SC1 in front with SS.5s in the rear and the Synergy 12" for the sub. My reciver has 6.1 surround and I need to incorparate a rear center speaker. Instead of having another SC1 hanging from the celing I would like to have a built in. How will this sound and whats the best speaker from the synergy line to accomplish this?
  24. I'm running a synergy system now, SB2s, SC1, SS.5s and the 12inch sub. My receiver runs 6.1 surround and I would like to add a rear center that would mate to the rest of the system. One glich, I would like to ceiling mount it with either another center, most likley a SC.5 or is it possible to just use one of the in ceiling/wall speakers offered in the Synergy line? This I believe would look better than a speaker hanging from the center of the celing. Also I'm planning on upgrading the SB2s to SF2s in the near future, will this cause a problem? And last but not least anyone have experience with making componet cables? Can good cables be made from RG6 cable and RCA connectors?
  25. Thanks, in fact my HT room is long and narrow, but I think I will rotate the tweeter. Shouldn't be a problem.
